A Wednesday start date enables you to take advantage of cheap flights, significantly reduces transfer times and means missing that Sunday morning scrum for equipment and passes. Alternatively you could simply take a long weekend if you can't get away for a week. This ground floor apartment offers direct access to the slopes and is right next to a button lift. The sleeping arrangements comprise of one large room with 2 sets of adult friendly bunk beds, there is also a double bed in another room and a proper, large double sofa bed in the living room. The kitchen is fully equipped with hob, combined oven/microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher, and bottle opener. Both bathrooms have showers and WCs, one has a bath, there is plenty of hot water and under floor heating throughout.

One of three brand new chalets finished to a very high standard overlooking the piste this apartment offers luxury self catering and door step skiing. The family bedroom has two sets of sturdy bunk beds which will support a fully grown adult or teenager, plenty of storage. This room also has an additional pull out single bed so that one of the bunks can be converted into a double making it ideal as a family room. The second bedroom has a very comfortable double bed as well as plenty of storage. In the living area is a double sofa bed and large dining table with seating for eight. The kitchen is fully equipped and also includes a slow cooker allowing you to cook while you ski. Both bathrooms are fully tiled, have showers and WC's, one has a bath and both have a continuous airflow system to reduce condensation and smells. The hot water tank is huge (300L) and every room has underfloor heating as well as electric radiators. A seperate and secure ski locker is also available.

Notes to the rental rates

  • All prices are for the apartment for the week and include all electricity costs. A refundable £300 damage waiver is required. All bedding is included however if you wish us to provide linen and towels we can do so for a small extra charge. Although we expect you to leave the apartment in excellent condition we do provide in the rental price a cleaner who will ensure that you are not dependent on the previous guests cleaning abilities.
  • SHORT BREAKS - can't get away for a week or fancy squeezing in a few extra days then why not take advantage of one of the short breaks that are available this season. Depending on when you arrive and leave the resort you could get up to 5 days skiing and only have to take 3 days off work!!! Some of the breaks cost as little as £250 for the accommodation. Contact me for more details on how to get maximum time on the slopes.
  • Discounts on lift passes as well as ski, board and boothire - I can arrange a 5% discount off all you ski passes and have them delivered to the apartment thus avoiding all the queues and giving you maximum slope time. Additionally my guests will receive a 20% discount off ski, board and boot hire from one of the village hire shops. If you are interested in these facilities then I can give you more details at the time of booking. You should also know that we have an 'on site' (lives in the village) representative who is on hand should you have any problems with any aspect of the apartment - they will also guarantee that the apartment is in top condition and that nothing is broken or missing before you arrive for your holiday all of which will ensure you have a hassle free time in Montalbert.

Notes:

Being a ground floor apartment the balcony is really a terrace, it is south facing and can be skied onto!!! There is plenty of hanging space so drying wet ski outfits shouldn't be too much of a problem. A large heated towel rail in one of the bathrooms is ideal for drying wet gloves. Ski boots are welcome to stay in the apartment over night because nothing is worse than putting on cold boots!! Smokers are welcome but are kindly asked to stand on the terrace when having a puff. The apartment comes with a secure and private ski locker with shelving to give even more storage space. A snow shovel to clear the terrace and outside seating is also provided along with a couple of sledges for the kids and those still young at heart!!

The village and getting there.

Montalbert has over a dozen restaurants and bars offering everything from traditional savoie dishes such as fondues and raclettes to pizzas and burgers for the children at prices that are well below those you would find in surrounding resorts. It has four ski shops, a tabac, a deli and a remarkably well stocked supermarket. There is also a small disco. Internet access is available in the commercial centre, public telephones are dotted around the village and rather sadly your mobile phone will have reception! Getting there couldn't be easier with the airports of Geneva, Lyon, Grenoble and Chambery being within 2/3 hours (midweek). A very regular train service runs from Paris and stops at Aime which is a 20 minute cab ride from the apartment. Finally driving, the apartment is 619 miles from Calais most of which is motorway and normally takes about 9/10 hours depending on the car and number of drivers. A midweek start date all the roads will be considerably quieter.

Summer Rental

The resort opens at the beginning of July with the lifts operating on a couple of days each week, normally a Tuesday and Thursday. Montalbert and the surrounding area offers an endless selection of activities such as mountain biking (adult and kids bikes can be hired in the village), white water rafting (English speaking), climbing, horse riding, dirt bikes, mini motor cross for the children, paragliding and swimming in a beautiful lake (with life guards)approximately 15 minutes away. Glacier skiing is also available on the Bellcote and Tignes glaciers (subject to weather conditions). Montalbert is also half a days drive from the Med and a hour from Italy making it an ideal place for a two stage holiday, however why leave when there is so much to do in the area that it keeps my children (aged 16-8) fully amused 100% of the time and two weeks never seems long enough to get it all done. PLEASE NOTE - The apartment will be generally be rented from Saturday to Saturday in the summer season

Off Season

The village all but closes down when the holiday seasons are not in full swing however the mountains and everything that makes the place so special remain, if peace and solitude are what you crave then nowhere could be better than Montalbert off season. Situated right on the edge of the forests of the Vanoise National Park you can spend a day walking in the mountains followed by a glass or two of wine on the south facing terrace whilst the sun goes down without seeing another person - it really is instant and total relaxation within about five hours of the UK. Rental periods are extremely flexible as is the pricing so if you are interested please contact me.

Skiing Information:

The village is situated to the west of the La Plagne ski area. North facing slopes & extensive snow making facilities means snow retention is excellent. Three fast chair lifts will take you to Plagne Centre in about 20 minutes. For beginners and nervous intermediates a Montalbert area lift pass will offer plenty of skiing whilst you find your feet after which it can be upgraded. The skiing down to the village is widely regarded as some of the best tree skiing in Europe and offers a good degree of shelter on bad weather days when some of the more exposed areas of La Plagne could be shut. A free button lift operates on the Montalbert nursery slopes. The village has its own crèche and ski school for anybody above the age of three. With over 425kms of pistes, acres of off piste, a link to Les Arcs via the world's largest cable car and a free day pass to Tignes, Val d'Isere and the 3 Valleys included in the full La Plagne pass the skiing is challenging for all levels, exciting and endless.
