Situated just 5 min drive from the ski lifts of Les Arcs/La Plagne, one of the biggest ski resorts in Europe, and close to many other large ski areas. Close to the town, there's 3 supermarkets and a beautiful pedestrian High St with lots of traditional French shops. The apartment is part of an old farmhouse, nestled at the top of an authentic alpine village with beautiful views in all directions, its peaceful and away from the hoards in the resorts. It is also a beautiful, colourful and vibrant setting for summer holiday rentals with all kinds of activities available. There's a lake beach and a golf course.

About the House and Area

The apartment is part of an original Savoie farmhouse in an authentic alpine village. The house in front is still a farmhouse. There are farm animals around but don't worry there's no smell and it all adds to the tranquillity of the setting. Our house is perched at the top of the village and has beautiful views all round with only the mountains for a back garden. The apartment is very spacious for 8 people and you will find comfort far superior to the shoe boxes you can get in the resort. We have supplied a DVD and CD player (please bring some disc’s) and some games. The kitchen is fully equipped. The only disadvantage is that it will take you a little longer to get to the slopes, and this is why you will get so much more space for your money. Summer

In the summer the house is wonderfully located just 5 min drive or 15 min walk from Bourg St Maurice. The town is really popular in the summer and for good reason. The weather, views, space and fresh air, for a start. There are a host of fantastic activities to take part in. You can walk and trek for miles in the hills and national parks (The Vanoise National Park is right on the door step). Canoeing, lake swimming and sun bathing, white water rafting, para-gliding, road and mountain biking, climbing, golf, tennis horse riding and lots more. Whether you want to relax or exert yourself, it’s a perfect spot. For those that prefer a drive in the hills, the roads are fabulous and the Italian Lake District is just across the pass. The town is lovely in the summer with many outdoor restaurants and bars, a great Saturday market, many fetes and events.

Travel details

Fly and drive to any of the following airports: Chambery: Winter only, 1 hour transfer, BMI (from Southampton and Manchester). Grenoble: Winter only, 1.5 hr transfer, Easyjet. Lyon: 2 hour transfer, various carriers. Geneva: 2.5 hour transfer, various carriers. Take the Train: The Eurostar goes direct to Bourg St Maurice from Waterloo. Or it may be cheaper to get the Eurostar to Paris and then the TGV to Bourg. The Snowtrain: Blue Snow train, depart from Folkstone on a Friday evening on a coach which takes you through the Channel Tunnel. On the other side you join the overnight train with couchette accommodation that takes you all the way to Bourg. Or there’s the White Snow Train which goes Eurostar from Waterloo to Paris where you pick up the Snow Train. The return is late on Saturday arriving back in England on Sunday afternoon. This can give you up to 7.5 days skiing.

Skiing Information:

The skiing is boundless. As the apartment is situated in the valley you can get any of the following: Les Arcs/La Plagne: 5 min drive. Val d'Isere/Tignes: 30 min drive. The 3 Valleys: 40 min drive. These are 3 of the biggest, highest and best resorts in Europe with over 1000km of piste in total and unlimited off piste skiing. You also have La Rosiere (for families and beginners) and St Foy (more off piste) within 30 mins.
