Summer Activities:
Les Contamines is the perfect location for your summer holidays. It has something for all the family be it sporting or just relaxing and taking in the amazing views. The leisure park has a boating lake, a new swimming lake (5000m2) surrounded by a man-made beach (lifeguards are on duty and inflatable toys and balls are available for hire). There is also trampolining, a golf driving range, 8 championship tennis courts, crazy golf, various levels of assault courses in the trees, donkey rides, horse-riding and playgrounds. From here you can also take the cable car up the mountains where there are numerous walks for all levels of abilities and why not stop off and have lunch in one of the many lovely mountain refuges & restaurants. For the more adventurous why not try the Tour de Mont Blanc, rock climbing, mountain biking or take a horseback trail up the mountains (treks can be organised which involve staying overnight in one of the many mountain refuges).
Summer Activities Continued:
There is so much to do in Les Contamines but if you do feel like a change why not explore the nearby towns of Megeve with its pedestrianised streets and annual music festival and horse shows or travel to Chamonix where you can take the cable car up to the Aiguille du Midi and watch the climbers start their ascent of Mont Blanc. Other nearby places worth visiting are the historic and immensely pretty towns of Annecy and Yvoire. Due to its superb location Les Contamines is also a perfect base for exploring Italy and Switzerland whose boarders are close by. The Village:
Les Contamines can offer you a great selection of bars, restaurants, creperies and shops including several ski rental shops. There are 2 supermarkets, a bank, post office, ATM machine, bakeries, a butcher shop, gift shops and an excellent and very helpful tourist office. There is a weekly market in the village and during the summer the village is a hive of activity with the many outdoor concerts, international tennis competition, fetes etc taking place. The village organises a weekly entertainment programme during the summer months for both adults and children.
Ski:
The 125km of well maintained & uncrowded pistes make for some fantastic skiing in Les Contamines. There is skiing for all levels along with a snow park (championship level) and a half-pipe for snow boarders. There are also 2 nursery slopes in the village (one of which along with the half pipe are flood lit on certain nights of the week). The local ski pass is linked to the town of Hauteluce and there is also a 'Evasion Mont Blanc' pass which covers Les Contamines and another 420km of skiing in St. Gervais, Megeve and Combloux. Further afield and for the more adventurous are the resorts of Chamonix, Argentiere and Courmayeur in Italy to try out. Other winter activities in Les Contamines are dogsledding, ice-skating, snowshoeing and snowmobile rides. The ski school in Les Contamines has plenty of English speaking ski instructors. We offer a discount for ski hire from the ski shop located beside the apartment.
