St Gervais-les-Bains:
St. Gervais les Bains is a small late 19th century market and spa town on the western flanks of the Mt Blanc massif, long popular with the French. The town retains its historic charm and has a variety of shops, restaurants, bars and ski shops as well as a nightclub, cinema and casino. Well known for its thermal baths St Gervais also boasts an Olympic ice skating rink open all year. Neighbouring towns include Chamonix and Megeve.
The area is renowned for its mountaineering and beautiful scenery. In spring the Mont Blanc massif offers some of the finest ski-mountaineering in the Alps. You can climb Mont Blanc along one of the many routes or take the spectacular Mont Blanc Tramway instead. For the less energetic we suggest you take a bottle of wine out to the apartment balcony
Winter Season:
During the ski season the resorts of St Gervais and Megeve are linked. The new Evasion ski forfait is great value offering over 400km of piste, more than 100 lifts, some of the grandest views in the Alps and skiing in Megeve/St Gervais, Contamines, Les Houches, St Nicolas de Veroce and Combloux. There is excellent skiing for all standards including two first class ski schools, comprehensive crèche facilities and a ‘jardin de neige’ for toddlers and young children. As well as nursery slopes the St Gervais/Megeve area offers acres of challenging skiing for intermediate and advanced skiers, as well as snowboarding (half-pipe & terrain park), cross-country skiing, tobogganing etc. Snow-machines assure good snow coverage througout the ski season and this region has plenty of superb off-piste opportunities including the famous Vallee Blanche. St Gervais has its own Bureau de Guides for off-piste/ski-mountaineering and the Tourist Information Office is first class.
Summer Season:
St Gervais and the surrounding area is famous for its stunning scenery and miles of magnificent walks to suit all ages. Summer activities on offer include tennis, horse riding, golf , (mini-golf in St Gervais, championship golf course in Megeve), cycling, mountain biking, rock climbing, canoeing, white-water rafting, go-karting paragliding, hot-air ballooning and there is water sports lake with a beach about 20 minutes away. The apartments’ chalet has a a heated and well-maintained private outdoor pool.
