The property, completed in Dec 2006, and fitted with brand-new, high quality furniture throughout, makes an excellent base for your skiing or activity holiday. The Living Room/Diner has seating for 6 at the table and 4/5 in comfort on the sofas. The kitchen has a range of units including a 4 ring ceramic hob, self-cleaning fan oven, dishwasher, fridge (4 * freezer compartment), and microwave. A TV (french channels) + DVD player, and a CD stereo with input for MP3 player, are also here. The main bedroom has a double bed, with large chest of drawers and a fitted wardrobe. The second bedroom has adult-sized bunk beds, suitable for all ages, with a further full-size, pull-out single bed; also a large chest of drawers and a walk-in wardrobe. The bathroom has a bath with shower over, sink and a washing machine/dryer. There is a separate WC and large fitted wardrobes in the hallway. Also there are notes on how to use the various appliances, plus info on the local area and tourist facilities.

St Jean-de-Sixt is a very pretty village, flanked by dramatic mountains and breath-taking scenery. Within easy reach of Geneva airport, only 30km from Annecy and 5 mins drive from the major resorts of La Clusaz and Grand Bornand; St Jean makes for an excellent and varied holiday destination and base. The village itself is well-served by shops and amenities, including bakeries, several restaurants and bars, sports shops for ski hire and sale, newsagent, hairdresser, pizza parlour and mini-supermarket. There are also tennis courts, a children's playground, petrol station and a tourist office. Various activities within and around the village include excellent summer walking plus snow shoe trails in winter, a range of cross-country skiing tracks and a sled piste and nursery slope. The ski bus, or your car, will take you across to Grand Bornand or up to La Clusaz where extensive ski slopes from beginner to expert are situated. In Winter there is a bus from Geneva airport to the village

  • Deposits of 25% are required on booking and can be paid in £ sterling using a credit card via PayPal or cheque. The balance is due in Euros on arrival to our agent in the village.
    The property is managed by our local agent, Gisele Favre, who arranges the rental contract, deposit and inventory check. Our agent is a French speaker, but we can act as intermediary if necessary. Gisele will also sort out the obligatory local 'taxe de sejour' and 'carte d'hote'.
  • Full professional cleaning is included at the end of your stay, so you only need leave the flat tidy. You are welcome to bring your own bed linen and towels etc. Otherwise we can organise this for you, please ask for rates. All other costs are included in the rental fee.

  • The full size heated towel rail includes a 2 hour booster function, which runs at maximum heat for up to two hours - useful when having a bath or when drying ski wear. Notes: Linen can be rented through our local agent. Rates available on demand. Each room has a thermostatically controlled electric heater which can be adjusted to regulate the heat in the room. Additional equipment includes: a hairdryer, an iron and ironing board, bag less vacuum cleaner, mop/bucket, dustpan/brush. The kitchen is fully equipped. In addition to ample crockery and cutlery, there is a blender, hand-held mixer, pressure cooker, filter coffee machine, oven trays and dishes, cake tins. In the living room there are a good selection of maps and books on the local area, including recommended walks and hikes for families with children as well as for more experienced adults. There is also a set of brochures and leaflets on the village and its neighbouring resorts and their facilities. A travel-style cot bed is also available for use and stored in the wardrobe. There is also a separate and secure ski locker located in the basement.

Terrace: The apartment features a paved terrace and green area. Deckchairs for sun-lounging are stored outside for use when the weather is bright. There is also an outdoor dining set for 4 people.

Driving in Snow: Don't forget your snow-chains, these are compulsory items to carry in your car for some of the roads in this area during winter. Our access road is cleared by snow plough when required, but you may need the chains in-between visits if the snow is heavy. If you have 4 wheel drive you're unlikely to have any problems.

Ski: Excellent skiing is available in Grand Bornand and La Clusaz with a range of runs from Green to Black. Off-piste skiing is also a possibility, but please use a guide for your own safety. You can drive to the base of the lifts in many cases, or perhaps more conveniently, use the ski-bus, which is free with your carte d'hote. They run very regularly through the season. We can highly recommend an excellent ski school based in St Jean (Aravis Concept). The owner, Emmanuel Schlitz, has done wonders with our 7 year-old, who worships him as a hero! He's also good with useless adults like Claire and I. He and his team speak English and offer a full range of classes, both individual and group (max group size typically 6 people). We recommend Contact Sports for your ski hire; the shop is very close to the apartment. You can get a 10% discount during school holidays, or 20% outside of these dates, on equipment rental with fliers available in the apartment. Have fun!

The property was ideal for a short break to sample the local Via Ferrata and mountains in September. Comfortable, cosy and very clean it was also ideally located with supermarkets/bakeries nearby. Two local sports shops hired equipment and September meant easy travelling as the roads were quiet.
Ian and Claire were the perfect owners, always accessible and happily offering advice which made everything run smoothly.
Annecy a worthwhile day out together with the Saturday market at Thones. Overall, highly recommended

We had a great time in the appartment and we found it very clean and comfortable. It was completely as described and extremely well equipped which made our stay a pleasure.
We have stayed in this area before but further into the mountains in Le Chinaillion. We found St Jean a slightly better location as it offers all the charm of an Alpine village without the long twisty drive everyday. St Jean had a good range of shops and restraunts with a very popular bakery just a stroll from the apartment.
We would definately recommend the apatrment although we would not want it to affect our chances of getting the dates that we would want !!!

A fantastic apartment, clean and well equipped and in a wonderful location in a lovely small town. Had a fantastic time skiing in La Clusaz and Grand Bornand, both delightful towns themselves and within very easy reach. Would love to go back and look forward to the day that we do! Excellent location. Short walk to ski bus, ski rental and shops and restaurants. Apartment has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Outside space for children to play. Loads of local information supplied. Claire and Ian are extremely helpful and obliging. Have already recommended to friends and colleagues.
