Traditional chalet lovingly updated to make a perfect holiday base
Traditional meets modern in the bright and sunny Chalet Gueraudaz. Built in the late 18th century, it originally stood higher up the mountain, but was moved to its present idyllic location in the 1940s, by helicopter! It now sits beside a quiet road looking south down the valley towards Thônes, and north towards the Massif d’Aiguillle. The chalet has been modernised to make a practical and comfortable holiday home, but still retains the charm and character of its origins. It’s just a short walk to the shops and restaurants of St Jean de Sixt, and the village is half way between La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand, so you’re in a perfect position to enjoy everything the area has to offer.
More than 200km of superb skiing, just a few minutes’ drive from your door
Chalet Gueraudaz is in the perfect location to make the most of the La Clusaz slopes. Halfway between La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand ski resorts, you can ski somewhere new every day. Your Aravis ski pass also covers the Manigod area, giving you 220km of pistes of varying levels to explore, as well as extensive off-piste action. Cross-country skiers will discover trails from St Jean de Sixt - pick up a map from the village tourist office. Non-skiers are well catered for too, and can go ice skating or swimming in La Clusaz, where the heated indoor and outdoor pools are open all year round, or try snowshoeing, sledging, dog-sledding and sleigh rides.
Leap into the unknown or explore the mountains from your luxury Alpine base
There’s so much to see and do in the La Clusaz area in the summer. St Jean de Sixt is the only place in the world where you can try Bun-J ride, a cross between ski jumping and bungee jumping! Other more traditional pastimes are available too - marked footpaths crisscross the mountains, many starting from the village, or you can explore by mountain bike or on horseback. There are swimming pool complexes in Le Grand Bornand, La Clusaz and Thônes, but if you’re looking for something a little more challenging, there’s a climbing school, via ferrata routes, tree-top adventure parks, canyoning, white-water rafting, karting and paragliding all nearby.
