  • A security deposit of £250.00 is charged to cover any damage/breakages and additional cleaning which may be necessary. This will be refunded after departure. Bed linen and towels are not provided but may be supplied by yourselves or hired locally. We ask that our guests do not light the log fire as this could be a potential hazard if left unguarded.
  • We are able to take payment in euros as well as Sterling, cash or cheque.

Notes:

We supply a child's travel cot, high chair, 3 wheeler pushchair and a stair gate plus some toys and games. We do not supply bed linen and towels but these can be hired locally or guests must bring their own. We do supply quilts and pillows. We have two satellite dishes, one to receive UK TV and one for French channels. There is also a DVD/Video player and you may use our DVDs/Videos/CDs or bring your own. Although there is a log fire in the chalet we ask that guests do not use this for safety reasons. We ask for a security deposit of £250 to cover any damage which will be returned on departure. Our guardian, Sarah, who lives locally and is English is on hand for any major problems and queries, and will deal with the security deposit. She can also arrange bed linen hire locally.

The Skiing

The Les Contamines ski area offers snow-sure pistes from mid December to the end of April and has a ski school with English speaking instructors. Most of the skiing is above 1800m. The ski area has 120km of uncrowded pistes with 31 ski lifts, 44 pistes, including 3 nursery slopes in the village. For snow borders there are two snow parks, one in the village. Les Contamines has very good off piste for the more adventurous skier. It also has 29 km of cross country skiing and there are eight mountain restaurants. None of the 14 resorts of the Chamonix ski domaine are more than 45 minutes drive away including Les Grands Montets at Argentiere. Local ski guides can take you on a descent of the world famous Vallee Blanche. The chalet is situated only two km from the main cable car and the local ski bus stops opposite Chalet Neptune. St. Gervais, which links with Megeve is only 10 minutes drive away giving a further 300km of skiing.

Summer use of the chalet

Les Contamines is an ideal base for hiking, mountaineering, mountain biking, rock climbing and all alpine sports. The Pontet leisure park offers a small boating lake, adventure playground, tennis courts, golf driving range, archery and very well signed local walks. There is an outdoor heated swimming pool at St. Gervais five minutes drive away. Les Contamines is on the famous Tour of Mont Blanc walking route.

The village

The village has two supermarkets, many shops, 13 restaurants, post office, numerous bars, two banks, a cash point and a tourist office where English is spoken.
