The apartment is on the ground floor of a pretty Alpine chalet, and can accommodate 4 people comfortably. Patio doors open out onto a West-facing terrace and a large garden, and breathtaking views of the valley, including the World Championship ski run - and the easier runs too! The property, while being close to all the extensive facilities of Les Houches, provides a tranquil & relaxing environment. Les Houches is a traditional yet wonderfully accessible Alpine village - a perfect base for an active winter or summer holiday in the renowned Chamonix valley. Whatever your interests, be it skiing, walking, climbing, mountain biking or a whole range of adventurous sports, or just relaxing, the valley has everything to offer. The apartment's well-equipped, and also has an extensive video film library, both English & French books, and CD's. On arrival too, you'll receive a Carte d'Hote, entitling you to free bus & train travel through the Chamonix valley, store & restaurant discounts.

Les Houches is a pretty Alpine village in the Chamonix valley. It has a wide variety of restaurants, bars, supermarkets, shops, post office, bank, a very helpful tourist office - & its own new fast ski lifts. Chamonix, with its many night clubs is only 5 km away. Les Houches' tree-lined ski areas cater for every type of skier, with many green, blue & red runs - but also the black runs of the World Cup Downhill race, held every year. The Mont Blanc ski-pass provides access to 700 km of varied runs including Les Grand Montets & plenty of off-piste skiing including La Vallee Blanche, as well as snowboarding. Spring & summer bring wild flowers & wonderful walks along both the valley & the high balconies - all with spectacular views of Mont Blanc. Other activities include biking, paragliding, rafting, tennis & golf. Young children are also well-catered for with adventure & animal parks. The pleasures of Italy are only 20 minutes away, through the Tunnel to Courmayeur & Aosta.

Skiing: Skiing in Les Houches, against the stunning backdrop of Mont Blanc, is wonderfully varied, ranging from plenty of green, blue and red runs, ideal for beginners and intermediates, right through to black runs - the most famous of these is rather misleadingly named 'La Verte du Kandahar',where the men's World Cup downhill race is staged every year - & where the French Olympic Ski Team practice. It also has its own new fast ski lifts! Les Houches is also an ideal base for skiing some of the 700 kms covered on the Mont Blanc Pass, including Le Brevent, La Flegere, Le Tour and Argentiere as well as the black-run challenges of Les Grande Montets. You can also ski in Italy, at Courmayeur, only 15 kms away via the nearby Mont Blanc Tunnel. There are also several other ski areas, including St. Gervais, Megeve and Les Contamines, for example, about 45 minutes away, making it possible to ski in different places every day, if you wanted to.

Other Activities: canoeing, sight-seeing, shopping, spa visits.
