Easily accessible by car, the chalet is located in an excellent position standing just a few metres from the easy Bettex piste. Three or four minutes walk also gets you onto another piste from where lifts take you either straight to the village or to the large La Masse ski area. From the village, access to the rest of the Three Valleys is quick and easy, and on La Masse the lifts go all the way to 2800m. Several bars are within easy walking distance of the chalet and these are also easily reached on skis for a visit on the way home after your day's activities.

Within ten minutes walk is a free lift that takes skiers and pedestrians directly to and from the centre of the village and this operates until late at night.

There is free parking within 30 metres of the steps to the chalet.

Further details for this holiday chalet rental in Preyerand, France

Overview of Les Menuires: Les Menuires is the undiscovered hub of the Three Valleys. Located at 1850m it has an enviable snow record and offers tremendous value for skiers of every level. The keen skier can be in the Meribel valley in 20 minutes, but even better can be on the chairlift to the empty slopes of La Masse in less than 10! Being based in Les Menuires means you get the best of the snow on these slopes before others arrive. There is plenty of off-piste here for the adventurous, as well as runs of all grades and several mountain bars too. Getting to Val Thorens takes an intermediate skier about 20 minutes from Les Menuires and given normal snow conditions you can ski all the way back to the chalet taking only one lift at Les Menuires. Alternatively, take the blue runs down to the lovely village of St Martin, enjoy a generous lunch and return via the recently opened 8 person gondola.

From this you can see that Les Menuires really is an excellent base from which to explore the fantastic Three Valleys.

Exciting new investments in Les Menuires: Les Menuires has made significant investments, replacing older lifts with state of the art detachable covered chairs and greatly increasing the capacity to get skiers and boarders up to high altitude. If you don't like lift queues, Les Menuires will suit you well!

In 2005 the new Granges chair was commissioned. An 8 person gondola opened right in the village centre at the start of the 2006 season. The second stage - right to the top of the Meribel ridge - opened in 2007, making access to the rest of the Three Valleys even easier. In 2009 a 3.5 km long toboggan run suitable for children and adults opened, and in 2010 a new chair at Reberty replaced several drag lifts.

There is also a magnificent sports centre with swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi, hammam, squash, dancing and training facilities. This opens longer during inclement weather, and with the ice rink, the cinema and the extensive shopping, restaurants and bars and there's always something to do in Les Menuires!

Other facilities: The village has numerous bars and restaurants in a sunny bowl and benefits from numerous snow cannons that help the resort stay open when many others have closed for lack of snow. The Metz-e-Ry restaurant offering good food and entertainment is only a few minutes walk from the chalet and an even closer new bar-restaurant opened in late 2007. The closest equipment hire shop is just two minutes walk from the chalet. The ski-school, with English speaking instructors, operates from the village centre and there are protected nursery slopes and a crèche that takes children from a young age. Independent instructors can be hired and will even start your private lessons from the chalet should you wish, brushing up your off-piste technique, your snowboarding or other winter sports skills. Lift passes for Les Menuires and St Martin, the whole of the Belleville valley or even the entire Three Valleys can now be ordered on line and delivered to your home before you even leave for France!

Ski:

The Three Valleys has been the premier French winter sport destination for some time, and understandably so. Featuring over 600km of marked piste and 200 lifts, there is something for the snow enthusiast of every level from absolute beginner to the keenest powder hound. The lift system has seen significant investment in recent years with new gondolas and covered chairs. From the village centre access to the high and uncrowded slopes is easier and quicker than ever. And remember, Les Menuires is in the Belleville valley which also contains Val Thorens (one of Europe's highest resorts) and St Martin and has HALF of all the Three Valley's marked piste.

So in summary, Les Menuires, with it's rapid access to Val Thorens, St Martin and Meribel, offers excellent value for money for those who want the whole three valleys experience without the crowds of Meribel or the expense of Courchevel.

Pour nos clients français - svp noter que nos prix d'hiver sont par personne, pas pour le chalet

Golf:

During the summer, golf is available at Meribel and at Ugine. Both courses are around an hour away by car.

Great value and location chalet

Review Submitted: July 1, 2008 Date of Stay: March 2008
We have stayed at this property several times and find it a really good place to stay. For a catered ski in/out chalet in the three valleys at this price level it is hard to better. Clean, well maintained and as described on the web. The owners are readily contactable.

Chalet Bouquetin is on the edge of the newer (more attractive) developement in Les Menuires below the centre of town with decent views across the valley. The new bypass runs 50m below it, but we do not find that noisy or intrusive as it is well below the chalet level. The accommodation has lots of space in the lounge area with plenty of large comfy sofas and a (self help) fireplace. Most rooms are ensuite. The ski room is a little tight, but adequate, and free internet access is an essential bonus for me. The ski run from the chalet is down quite a steep slope, but it IS only 5m away! This piste is the small Betex (green) run which is at the very bottom of Les Menuires, you then take an old (slowish) chair and can then ski across (blue) and take a fast chair (the Tortollet) up to just above Les Menuires centre where ski school starts. This takes about 10-15 min. Alternatively you can miss out the first lift by walking up the Betex about 100m and skiing down to the second lift to above the centre. Absolute beginners might need to walk a little further and take the small basket lift to the centre, but by day 2 or 3 they should be able to manage the runs slowly!

Food does vary a bit year to year as it can obviously depend greatly on the chalet staff which (obviously) changes each year. I have seen comments from other guests that the food is too 'fancy' but others say that it is not 'haute cuisine' enough! Personally we have found it good, if not spectacular, and on the whole it is improving each year.

Les Menuires is not the most attractive of the 3 valleys and perhaps doesn't have the high class nightlife of some of the bigger centres, but the local 'Yeti' bar is lively, and there are plenty of other restaurants and bars. The main centre is a 10-15 min walk away, though some new restaurants are opening around the recent developements that includes Chalet Bouquetin. Prices tend to be as reasonable as you can expect for the 3 valleys. Les Menuires is, however, brilliantly located for ski touring or skiing to all the other 3 Valley centres easily, and as it is reasonably high we have always found enough snow and always skied in and out - I'm not into walking!
Recommended for:  Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children
Owner's Response: This year we are enhancing our catering package to include a four course evening meal and improved wines. We also plan to upgrade to a nice large flat screen TV. Whether your party is large or small we will always aim to provide you with a comfortable stay in this outstanding ski area!

What a geat time

Review Submitted: March 13, 2012 Date of Stay: March 2012
What can we say - great from start to finish - such a shame it had to end!!
And that doesn't even cover the patient communication from the owners when dealing with a nervous customer finally put at ease after numerous emails !!
There are many aspects to a great ski holiday - we'll try to cover in no particular order of significance:
Location – the groups 1st visit to the 3-Valleys – wow, what a ski area! And Les Menuires is exactly the place to be to explore it all with ease. We may have been lucky with the conditions but best skiing ever for all in the group and some have been at it for 30 years!
Accomodation – Chalet Bouquetin coped with 12 boisterous adults with ease and then had plenty of space and comfort for when the energy levels dropped. The food was great at all meal times and even with skiers appetites there was always plenty for seconds. Beer and wine a-plenty – try as we might (and did we try !) we couldn’t blow the generous budget. Hosts Mel and Rachel were great – organised, capable and unobtrusive – but friendly and involved when needed – thanks girls ! One of the impressive things was the amount of hot water on tap – coped with at least 24 showers a day and always as hot as you needed – important for recovering at both ends of the day.
Apres Ski – mainly in the Chalet watching the well stocked DVD library – well we had to try and get through all the booze !! However there were plenty of bars close-by or in the main square for the more energetic of the group – no complaints there. We did find the Tex-Mex a great place for a convenient lunch-time rendezvous to pick up the ski-schooler’s and have a quick pint and pizza to set us up for the afternoon’s fun.
We have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Chalet Bouquetin as a base for a great skiing holiday – thanks for having us Pete, Bev and Dave.

Already synchronising diaries for a return next year – budgets allowing !!!
Owner's Response: Steve and Gail - many thanks for your comments - snow conditions were outstanding this year, but that aside it's clear you had a great time and we're glad the chalet lived up to your expectations. We'll pass on your comments to the chalet hosts who obviously did you proud. Thanks once again for being our guests and we hope to see you again in the near future.
Kind rgeards,
Pete and Bev

We did find the Tex-Mex a great place for a convenient lunch-time rendezvous to pick up the ski-schooler’s and have a quick pint and pizza to set us up for the afternoon’s fun.
We have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Chalet Bouquetin as a base for a great skiing holiday – thanks for having us Pete, Bev and Dave.

Already synchronising diaries for a return next year – budgets allowing !!!

Poppy and Alex were excellent hosts and the overall chalet experience was excellent. Food was great, the families totally relaxed and much fun was had. We would thoroughly recommend the chalet and would love to come back.
Thanks again,

All in all our stay at the Chalet was a very positive experience, it was clean, warm and the food was lovely. We were a group of 9 adults and and felt that 10 adults in the chalet would have been the maximum.

The living space was excellent with comfy sofa's to flop into at the end of a great days skiing/boarding, and the fire was a welcome feature.
The food in the chalet was substantial, with canapes, 3 courses and cheese each night. The wine accompanying the food was lovely and a choice of white, red and rose wine was appreciated. There was also plenty of beer, soft drinks and other choices of alcohol available. We were a group of 9 thirsty folk and despite all our best efforts in attempting to finish all the beer allowance we didnt manage it!!

The boot room is pretty small but we managed it in shifts as not everyone was ready at the same time anyway.

We were very lucky to have arrived on a day where it snowed for almost 24 hours which made our week in the 3 Valleys very enjoyable.
Les Menuires itself is not a nice resort and I have been to much nicer areas in the 3 valleys but luckily the chalet is in a nicer part. It doesnt take too long to access Val Thoren or Meribel.

All in all we had a great time.
Owner's Response: Thanks for the feedback Marianne - we're delighted you had a great time in Chalet Bouquetin. The upgraded catering package has been very popular with all our guests and it's nice that this met your expectations too. We sized the dining table, the sofas and the sleeping accomodation to be comfortable for 12, with 14 as an easy option, but we appreciate that some folks like that little bit of extra space. We hope to see you again soon!
Kind regards,
Pete and Bev
