Chalet Les Trolls - Winter: Chalet Rental, 4 Bedrooms, Sleeps 8 in Morillon Village

we are dutch and rented the house via internet. It was excellent. Often you see on internet foto's of houses and when you come there it is less than you expected. This one was better than we expected. Full furnished kitchen, good rooms and excellent service. Christmas tree was there and everything you wouldn't expect. Films, good tv, radio, games, internet, and a lot of pots and pans to cook as you believe. Last but not least it was very clean and it had plenty of room.
Better not for us to be too optimistic because next time it will be rented to others and we have to search something else. To find this quality will be difficult. Our compliments to the owners, they know what people like and realise it.

Les Trolls is a great place to stay, the views are fantastic, the chalet is very well equipped for a comfortable family stay and the lounge and dining areas are large enough to easily accomodate 8 without a fight. The log fire dries out damp gloves in no time and creates a really cosy atmosphere . There was an endless supply of hot water to wash away any aches and pains after an ardous day on the piste. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable with plenty of storage for all the ski clobber. Our chalet host made us really welcome and treated us to fantastic food night after night. We were self driving and the directions provided by the owner were absolutely spot on. The owner could not have been more helpful and assisted with advice on ski hire and ski school.
Although we chose not to take advantage of the transfer services I am sure that these would have been trouble free such was the proffesionalism of the hosts .The skiing in Grand Massif is great and provides more than adequate challenges for those that like it deep and steep. The only drawback is that the connecting links between resorts get very busy at peak times so you need to watch the traffic and time connections carefully to avoid the queues.
The chalet is a sufficiently remote to give that "away from it all experience" yet only 10 mins drive to the lifts. A bit of a minus if you want to enjoy your apres ski in the bars but a big plus if you prefer the company of your own group or family. The chalet operates an honesty bar so you can still enjoy a beer or three before sitting down to dinner and quaffing the excellent (unlimited) house wines . The road up to the chalet is narrow and steep in places and does receive some irregular gritting, snow chains were required on just two occasions after fresh snow for that very final ascent stretch.

An area lift pass for a family of four is very competively priced , ski hire was at the high end compared to previous year 2008 in 3 Valleys but no doubt some savings could be made by those prepared to shop around or sacrifice on quality
Would we go back ? That would be an unreserved Yes and would also consider it in the summer as a self catering mountain retreat.
