Samoens - a picturesque alpine charmer:
An enchanting, unspoilt French village, the only winter and summer sports resort to be classified by the historic monuments. It has a thriving village centre with weekly market and numerous events throughout the year. Wide range of shops and restaurants catering for everyday needs and the more extensive requirements of various hire shops for every type of sport. Famous Alpine gardens, open air ice rink in winter, fabulous outdoor pools in summer, relaxing cafe’s in the central square and a cinema showing some films in English.
The winter scene:
The ski area of Samoens is located just outside the village and provides excellent skiing for all standards. There are links with Flaine giving you access to the enormous ski area of the Grand Massif. Samoens links directly with the ski fields of Morillon and les Carroz offering some fantastic off piste skiing through the trees.
The chalet is 5 mins drive away from the various cable cars that give access to the slopes - we can take and pick you up each day for an additional charge..
Other options in the winter are ski touring in the surrounding mountains, raquetting and cross country skiing at the col de Joux plane. Husky sleigh driving, parascending and numerous, charming mountain restaurants all help to make this a varied and extensive resort to enjoy time and again. Or why not take one of our delicious picnics to enjoy wherever you please on those glorious days!
The Summer :
There are a mass of activities available on the doorstep. Mountain biking and paraponting are enjoyed to an international standard with lifts open to get you to the top of the mountains. Horse riding along the banks of the Giffre. Or take a donkey for an hour or day to carry your picnic and take you off into the mountains. Glacier treks, walking, climbing, pot holing, white water rafting, fishing, tennis, swimming and golf are all available.
There are plenty of walks directly from the chalet with swimming available either in our own heated pool or in the rock pools of the Valentine river 15 minutes walk away.
We are able to offer guided walks and access to the higher ranges by four wheel drive on request.
From May through to October we run women adventure breaks for those who want to challenge themselves to a little more... (please, do not hesitate to contact owner for further information or link).
Ski:
This is a great place to base yourself and ski the 275km of the Grand Massif, Samoens,Flaine, or to travel to Morzine, Les Gets or Chamonix. With views of the slopes across the valley you can also keep an eye on the weather as it happens!
We can organise ski lessons on request and also offer a discount on ski and equipment hire.
We can take you on a ski orientation morning to get you familiar with the resort and all its best and hidden features.
We can also arrange for you to do the 'Vallee Blanche' out of Chamonix - a must for an intermediate skier!
Golf:
Golf is available in the season at Flaine, Les Gets, Chamonix, or further afield.
