Skiing:
There is an amazing 500kms of piste throughout the Evasion ski domain which includes St Gervais, Les Contamimes and Megeve. The lift system is highly efficient. Runs to suit all abilities, from wide open greens and blues to steep narrow blacks. There are 3 half pipes and 2 'fun-parks' as well as flood-lit skiing facilities. Off-piste skiing is abundant and possibilities for ski-touring are endless!
Paragliding/Hangliding:
The ultimate challenge in paragliding and hang-gliding flight has to be the mountains where perhaps the best thermalling and cross country flying is found and there is no place like the 'Chamonix Valley' and its surrounding area for superb year-round flying. The sheer altitudes, the stunning views and the tranquillity of what must be Europe's most extensive alpine area, make it a pleasure to visit.
Take-off sites nearby are Le Brevent (15km), Plan Praz (15km), Les Grands Montets (15km), Plan L'Aiguille (15km), Aigille du Midi (15km), Plaine Joux (5km) and many others. There is even a landing site 0.5km from the chalet.
Cycling:
The new Diamant Verte circuits make this area a brilliant place for mountain biker beginners, novices, or just plain lazy bikers who want the thrills without all the hard work. The Diamant Verte website is currently only in French, however it gives you a map of the circuits and photos. The lift system only runs in the summer month, however there are numerous cycle tracks available for mountain biking all year round for those prepared to put the effort into cycling up hill as well.
For road cyclists there are some excellent training rides within the valley with climbs and descents of varying severity. It's also easy to nip down to the open expanse of the Arve valley floor to put in some longer mileages. And from St Gervais it's quite possible to take in classic Tour de France routes such as the Col de Aravis and Col de Colombiere.
Golf:
Mont D'arbois Golf Club an 18 hole golf course only 10 mins away situated just above the village of Megeve on a plateau at an altitude of 1320m. Chamonix Golf Club 25 mins, designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. An 18 hole course in the glacier of Chamonix valley between Mont Blanc range and Massif of Aiguilles Rouges. Les Gets Golf Club 45 mins in the heart of Les Portes du Soleil year round golfing with exceptional views. Evian Mast Golf Club 1hr 20 mins the most famous European golf course dominating Lake Geneva. Morzine/Avoriaz Golf Club 50 mins. Esery Golf Club 45 mins. Lac d'Annecy. Golf Club 1 hour.
