Lounge has tall French-doors to an over-street balcony and stunning views of Brevent and Aiguilles Rouges massif; top quality pine furnishing in the tradidional Savoyard style, two comfortable sofas (one a sofa bed), coffee table, drawer unit, entertainment unit with TV, DVD, Video and HiFi; dining table seating 6-8. Separate Kitchen is neat and fully equipped with four-ring halogen hob, extractor fan, fridge, microwave/ conventional oven, dishwasher, Bosch washer-dryer, kettle, toaster, and full inventory of kitchenware. Master Bedroom has en suite shower room; twin beds that zip up to form a double, and copious storage. Bedroom 2 has full-size bunks plus a single bed, and its own balcony with street and Brevent views. There is a second shower-room, with massage shower, washbasin and storage. Mountaineering, Climbing, Hillwalking, Biking

Chamonix is THE renowned Alpine capital for mountaineering, climbing and hillwalking, offering hot rock, high mountains, superb granite and miles of limestone cliffs in Summer. Most documented crags and many mountain routes are equipped or have abseil points in place. There is incredible quality and choice of mountain routes at all levels of difficulty, including Europe's highest peak, Mont Blanc (4810m). Winter climbers will also enjoy an exhilarating array of ice falls, ice routes, mixed and snow routes; and there are dozens of guide books and hundreds of local guides available to make your adventure safe, memorable and enjoyable. Indoor climbing is also available. Hillwalkers and Trekkers can enjoy dozens of day treks from Chamonix, making use of the extensive lift system should they choose, including legs from the Tour du Mont Blanc and walkers' Haute Route. A network of mountain bike trails has also been established in the valley; and downhillers can take on the pistes!

Kids' Activities

Chamonix is ideally suited for families with children of all ages. The pedestrianised environment allows for pleasant stress-free strolling with children, and the area is generally very manageable for children's buggies. In summer, the Planards ski area in the centre of town plays host to a variety of children's outdoor activities, including the 'luge d'ete' - summer toboggan run - not to be missed! There are also a number of high-standard local playgrounds; a river-side beach area at 'Paradise des Praz'; Pony Club; Karting; Skate Park; Mini Golf; Tennis Club; Mini-Club Sportif (children's activity club); an Alpine Zoo; and don't miss the puppies at the St Bernard Breeding centre. The municipal 'Richard Bozon' sports centre in the town centre (site of the first Winter Olympics in 1924) boasts indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a water slide, and a lake with picnic/sunbathing area; the nearby valley-floor woods at Les Bois also offer gentle walks and plenty of picnic opportunities.

Skiing Information:

The skiing in and around the Chamonix valley is considered by many to be the best in the world, reaching an altitude of 3843 metres. Although Chamonix is renowned as an expert and intermediate ski area, there is a fantastic variety of terrain with something for everyone, whatever level, kids included. Chamonix offers over 12,000 vertical feet of skiing and more than 150km of groomed pistes, a snow park, and lots of famous ski-tours and off-piste routes including the fantastic Vallee Blanche accessed by the nearby Aiguille du Midi cable car (only a 5 min walk from the apartment). Though there is no ski-to-the-door in Chamonix, this apartment offers the closest thing - the lifts of the Savoy ski area just across the square allow access to the Brevent/Flegere ski area with over 500 hectares of ski domain including 54 km of groomed pistes! Check them out from the balcony when you wake up in the morning!

Golf Information:

Many fine golf courses are to be found in the Chamonix region, including the spectacular Chamonix Golf Club (boasting a Robert Trent Jones Sr 18 hole course); Evian (home of the premier event on the European Women's tour, the Evian Women's Open); Les Gets; Flaine; Avoriaz; Megeve (designed by Henry Cotton); Bossey (designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr); Esery; Talloires; Giez; Geneva (another Robert Trent Jones Sr. course); Verbier; and, about 2.5 hrs away by car, the renowned Jack Nicklaus and Seve Ballesteros courses at Crans Montana, home of the Omega European Masters. Green fees are reasonable by UK and Irish standards, ranging from €25-€75 euros for 18 holes. And your golf ball will fly further at altitude!
