These two luxury apartments are on the second floor of Residence Paccard, located right in the very centre of Chamonix on historic Rue Dr Paccard, Chamonix’s pedestrianised main shopping street, close to Place Balmat (the main square), and offer unrivalled access to the town’s superb shops, restaurants, bars, nightlife, railway station, museums and other attractions, all right on its doorstep – only the nearby post office has a more central address! Totally structurally refurbished and redecorated to a high standard (2004 & 2008), they are fresh and modern. They are an ideal base for all that Chamonix has to offer, with the whole of the valley easily accessible by the Chamonix Bus service which stops only a minute from the building, yet the location and come-and-go ease of access make them additionally suited to families and to groups of mixed abilities or having different interests. Secure indoor parking included with 2-Bed apartment. Free Wi-Fi broadband internet access in both.

Totally structurally refurbished and redecorated to a high standard in January 2008, the studio is fresh and modern. The lounge is light and spacious, with tall windows and French-doors offering balcony access to a magnificent view of Mont Blanc and the greater Mont Blanc massif. Furnishings are top quality and in a modern design with a comfortable two-tiered sofa bed, entertainment unit with 28 inch flat screen TV, DVD player, and Hi-Fi. The newly designed kitchen is neat and fully equipped with all modern conveniences including four-ring halogen hob, extractor fan, fridge, microwave / conventional oven, dishwasher, Bosch washer-dryer, kettle, toaster, and a full inventory of kitchenware. There is copious storage in a floor to ceiling wardrobe. The bathroom has a large massage shower and washbasin / vanity unit – perfect for relaxing after any day’s activities, or for an invigorating start in the mornings. Hot water is permanently on tap, and the studio is centrally heated (included).

Chamonix is a year-round resort town, steeped in alpine history and renowned for skiing as well as mountaineering, hiking and para-gliding with famous peaks such as Mont Blanc and the Drus. It is accessible to hikers, mountaineers, walkers, and even shoppers of all levels. Lift systems in the valley bring you up into the high mountains quickly, and numerous well marked walking and mountain-biking paths exist to explore, all the while enjoying gorgeous mountain views. You can also make a day trip by car through the Mt Blanc tunnel to nearby Courmayeur or Aosta, Italy and view the castles and Roman ruins in that valley followed by a multi-course Italian lunch or dinner. It's also an easy 1hr drive to the beautiful town of Annecy, set on a lake with its splendid medieval old town centre, or to Martigny or Geneva, Switzerland (train service available). Local trains and buses bring you up and down the valley to visit the neighbouring towns of Vallorcine, Argentiere, Les Houches and Servoz.

Mountaineering, Climbing, Hillwalking, Biking : Chamonix is THE renowned Alpine capital for mountaineering, climbing and hillwalking, offering hot rock, high mountains, superb granite and miles of limestone cliffs in Summer. Most documented crags and many mountain routes are equipped or have abseil points in place. There is incredible quality and choice of mountain routes at all levels of difficulty, including Europe's highest peak, Mont Blanc (4810m). Winter climbers will also enjoy an exhilarating array of ice falls, ice routes, mixed and snow routes; and there are dozens of guide books and hundreds of local guides available to make your adventure safe, memorable and enjoyable. Indoor climbing is also available. Hillwalkers and Trekkers can enjoy dozens of day treks from Chamonix, making use of the extensive lift system should they choose, including legs from the Tour du Mont Blanc and walkers' Haute Route. A network of mountain bike trails has also been established in the valley; and downhillers can take on the pistes!

Kids' Activities: Chamonix is ideally suited for families with children of all ages. The pedestrianised environment allows for pleasant stress-free strolling with children, and the area is generally very manageable for children's buggies. In summer, the Planards ski area in the centre of town plays host to a variety of children's outdoor activities, including the 'luge d'ete' - summer toboggan run - not to be missed! There are also a number of high-standard local playgrounds; a river-side beach area at 'Paradise des Praz'; Pony Club; Karting; Skate Park; Mini Golf; Tennis Club; Mini-Club Sportif (children's activity club); an Alpine Zoo; and don't miss the puppies at the St Bernard Breeding centre. The municipal 'Richard Bozon' sports centre in the town centre (site of the first Winter Olympics in 1924) boasts indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a water slide, and a lake with picnic/sunbathing area; the nearby valley-floor woods at Les Bois also offer gentle walks and plenty of picnic opportunities.
