Attractive self contained chalet in a charming hamlet on the 3 Vallees lift system. Modern facilities with rustic charm, large living area with open fireplace, wonderful sofas and new kitchen and bathrooms, ideal for family holidays.

There is one double room with en suite bathroom and one double room with lovely south facing balcony and terrace with mountain views.

Ski back to this tranquil haven yet only 5/10 min. by car/bus to the bright lights of Meribel centre - and right on the Raffort Olympic Gondola lift Station.

Chalet La Forge is in Le Raffort, a delightful hamlet immediately below Meribel, within 4 minutes easy walk of gondola lift to central Meribel and its direct access to huge three valleys ski area. There is now also a bus every 10 minutes up into the town. You can ski direct to chalet depending on snow conditions through a charming forest run.

There is one great restaurant and bar nearby which is very popular with local clientèle and for more sophisticated amusements it is only a few minutes by car/bus to bright lights of resort centre with its multitude of shops, bars restaurants, ice skating, bowling and other entertainments.

What's special about the chalet: The chalet has undoubted charm and combines the rustic feel of an old chalet with modern facilities and efficiency. It has been well designed to provide very efficient use of space and works extremely well as a comfortable home for 2 families. Two dishwashers, and well equipped kitchen plus cupboard full of games and books means it is a relaxed second home with boring chores minimized. Although out of the centre of Meribel, it is easily accessible by gondola, bus or a few minutes in a car thus getting the best of both worlds - peace and quiet and special alpine village ambience at home with easy access to the bright lights. Most of the time one can ski back to the chalet on an attractive route through the trees. Night-life loving teenagers will appreciate that it is only a 15 min. walk downhill from Dick's.

In the Summer: Being in a small friendly hamlet is definitely an advantage and the sunny balcony and terrace provide an ideal place to relax when not taking advantage of the local 18 hole golf course, riding, tennis, swimming, parapenting, climbing, rafting, mountain biking, walking or kayaking. Ski:

Within a few minutes walk of a gondola lift to the centre of Meribel and the heart of the 3 Vallees, the largest linked ski area in the world. Even in poor natural snow conditions there is always accessible good skiing with the 3000m altitude at Val Thorens and the 500 snow cannons on the lower slopes in the Meribel valley. For a good part of the season it should be possible to ski back to the chalet but if not, the heated ski lockers by the main lifts provide a convenient place to leave skis and boots to allow for a more comfortable trip back on the Gondola.

Golf:

Meribel has a wonderful 18 hole golf course ( the back nine holes have been refurbished this year) and organises competitions and courses of tuition as well as driving range, practice green and other facilities. Courchevel 20 minutes drive away has a charming 9 hole one - Both have excellent restaurants nearby.

Chalet La Forge - Great location

I booked Chalet La Forge for a group of 8 people - 2 couples and 4 singles. It can often be difficult trying to find a place that is flexible enough to accomadate these sorts of groups but the layout of the chalet worked well for us.
The location of the chalet is excellent - it is about 150 meters above the last stop of the Olympic bubble which takes you into the Chaudanne ski area (7-8mins). If you are feeling lazy (as we were!) you can save your self a walk up and down the hill and park in the free car park for this lift. The free buses also stop at the lift station, so getting into Meribel for a drink/meal would be very easy.
The snow cover was reasonable for our week and this meant we could ski all the way back to the lift station on a lovely tree lined run.
While Le Raffort its self does not have any shops, you are a 5 min bus/car journey from the super market on the edge of meribel, so self cartering was very easy.
The chalet is well equiped with two dishwashers, a good sized fridge/freezer and even a bbq! There are also plenty of board games and a selection fo DVD's which was great after a long days skiing.
I would recommend this chalet to anyone looking for a good place to stay in the Meribel area and hope that we will be back next year!

Chalet La Forge- wonderful holiday chalet

Have spent many a happy holiday in this perfectly situated chalet, in the very picturesque village of Le Raffort. Easy access to the slopes and all the amenities in Meribel. Chalet is extremely comfortable with much charm. Great family room centered round roaring log fire. Has all the mod cons including 2 dish washers , NASA foam mattresses & Wi-Fi. We highly recommend this holiday home.

New Year at Chalet La Forge

Lovely, cosy chalet, great to spend a week with family or friends. Downstairs is a long wooden dining table, which works well for a communal pre Skiing breakfast or dinner in the evening. Good bedrooms too - on 2nd and 3rd floor. Warm and clean - i loved the open fire downstairs and the comfortable sofa which fits at least 6.

I highly recommend!

What a way to spend New Year!

With a ski-bubble only a stones throw from the front door and beautiful views to wake up to, Chalet La Forge is the perfect place for a skiing break. A regular bus (less than 10 mins) takes you to and from Meribel centre so travelling to nightlife/restaurants/skislopes/rental shops is simple. It is wonderful to be away from all of the hustle and bustle of Meribel centre, so after a long day on the slopes you can kick back and really relax in the beauty and quiet of le Raffort.

The beds are fantastically comfortable and the kitchen is ideal for cooking up delicious treats for the group. There are several games in the living area so we spent many evenings playing fun games.

I will definitely be returning to this chalet next season. It is well kept and excellent value for money.

Chalet La Forge - Brilliant in Winter or Summer

My family have rented Chalet La Forge several times in recent years during the ski season and we absolutely love it. The village of Le Raffort is delightful an friendly. Parking right under the ski lifts in Meribel and Mottaret gives wonderfully easy access to the centre of the fantastic Trois Vallees resort (so no walking in ski boots!). The chalet itself is fantastically appointed and comforable whether we have been just six, or up to fourteen people. We also hired the chalet last summer for one of the best holidays ever (river-rafting, mountain-biking, canyoning, a truly world class golf course and so much more). We cannot recommend it highly enough.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
