The district of Berchtesgadener Land offers many interesting attractions including wonderful museums. For example tourists can visit the Old Saline Salt Museum at Bad Reichenhall and the Adelsheim Castle Museum in Berchtesgarden. For a great panoramic view of the area, visitors might like to head to the Eagle’s Nest, which is regarded as a national monument. The border with Austria is nearby and the lovely city of Salzburg is only half an hour’s drive from Berchtesgarden. Salzburg has many great places to visit including the city cathedral and Hohensalzburg Castle. A little further afield is the city of Munich, which is about an hour and 40 minutes away. Here visitors can see historic buildings and museums as well as some fantastic gardens inlcuding place gardens and the English Garden.
Weather in Berchtesgadener Land, Germany
The warmest time to visit this part of Germany is July and August when the maximum high temperature is 24 degrees centigrade, although June is also very warm. The temperature in December, January and February is cold enough to encourage occasional substantial snowfall. Ironically the higher temperatures encourage the most rainfall in the region with June having an average of approximately 105mm rainfall.

Salzburg Airport (SZG) in Austria is about half an hour’s drive from Berchtesgaden and has flights to and from many international airports. These include Brussels (BRU), Berlin-Tegel (TXL), Dublin (DUB), London-Gatwick (LGW), Manchester (MAN), Moscow-Domodedovo (DME) and Zurich (ZRH) amongst others.
