Things to do within 30 minutes drive:
Grosser Arber mountain (1456m) - Gondola cable car (runs most of the year), 6 seater chairlifts & pulls etc. Some of the most modern ski facilities in Germany. Home to FIS Ski World cup women's Slalom & Grand Slalom races. Ski schools & snowboarding railpark, Hiking trails in summer. Wonderful views on clear days as far as the Alps. Cafes & Restaurants. You can even get married at the top of the Arber (For non-German residents allow about 6 months planning time).
Spicak (cz) - ski & mountian bike resort & ancient chairlift. Aerial zipwires, walkways etc.
Silberberg - family ski resort, silver mine & summer rodelbahn, hiking trails
Haus zur Wildnis - National park information centre & animal enclosures
Brettersschachten - 90km of cross-country ski trials.
Rissloch water falls - excellent linear day walk starting at Bodenmais train station, pass the falls to the top of the Grosser Arber & down into Bayerisch Eisenstein.

Schwelhausl - Old woodcutters cottage and pond in the forest - 45-.60 minutes walk through the forest from Bayerisch Eisenstein
Ski:
The guest house is about 7 km from the Arber ski resort, (the most modern in Germany) with 6 lifts including a 6 seater gondola, a range of ski runs for all abilities, ski schools, rail park and more. The skiing on the Arber is regarded as some of the most reliable in Germany. The season lasts from mid December to mid April. Ski bus tickets are available from the Guest house.
The Czech ski resort of Spicak is just over border, about 3 km away. Spicak is accessible by train.
Cross country ski routes start less than 300m from the guest house.
Ski equipment hire and lessons can be booked at the ski shops in the village, about 10 minutes walk from the guest house.
Golf:
There are 3 golf courses within 40 minutes drive of the guest house. The closest course, (15 minutes away) is at Oberzwieselau (18 Holes). At Rusel, (40 minutes drive), is the popular 18 hole Deggendorf Golf Course. A new 9 hole course has opened at Haslach
Other Activities:
