Large house for 12 to 27, comfortable accommodation at an affordable price

Our comfortable, affordable house is ideal for group re-unions or family gatherings. The house, located on the edge of the quiet village of Bayerisch Eisenstein has wonderful views over the village and to the forested hills beyond. On the Czech/German border, the edge of Bayerwald National Park & in the shadow of Grosser Arber (1454m). A great area for skiing. The skiing world cup region of Grosser Arber is less than 10 minutes by car or bus, Whilst the Bavarian Forest's largest cross country centre is less than 15 minutes away. In summer, walking, mountain biking, golf and culture, from folk music to beer festivals plus much more. The house is centrally located for visiting the historic cities of Passau, Regensburg, Munich, Prague, Nuremburg, Salzburg, Linz and Land shut. All our rooms are comfortably furnished, with en-suite shower room, WC, TV, DVD player, hair-dryer & tea/coffee making facilities. DVDs, books, maps, games, sledges, tennis rackets are available for visitors use.

Located on the edge of the Bavarian Forest National Park, Bavaria, Germany. Halfway between Munich and Prague, only 2 hours by car. The Arber ski resort with it's cable car is only 5 minutes drive away. Bayersich Eisenstein is on the Glass road. There are many glass makers in the area to visit. A number of National hiking trails pass close by and there is a wide range of footpaths and cycle trails to explore in the Bavarian Forest and the Sumava region of the Czech Republic, just over the border. Grossers Rachel, Falkenstein, Lussen are all within 30 minutes. You can take boat trips on the scenic River Danube, less than a 45 minute drive away.

Notes to the rental rates

  • Prices are per week, for the entire property. (2 single rooms, 8 double rooms and 3 three bed rooms, plus 2 cots if required) for a maximum of 27 people. Exclusive use of the kitchen (commercial in style), lounge/dinning room, all bedrooms and bathrooms and free WiFi access. The price includes all bed linen and towels (changed weekly), an initial basket of firewood, final cleaning, tourist tax and Vat
    Additional services:
    Breakfast supplies for first morning of stay: 6.50 Euro per person.
    Subsequent baskets of firewood: 3Euros per basket.
    Clothes washing/drying: 6 Euros per load. Free use of ironing board and iron.
    Half board at a local restaurant is available for an additional 12.50€ per person, per day. (3 courses, all drinks extra)
    Bookings are liable for any damages that may arise. These MUST be paid for before departure.
  • Changeover day: Saturday only.
    Minimum stay: : 7 days.
    50% deposit to reserve property. Balance payable 8 weeks prior to arrival date

Things to do in village

In the village: Train museum, more than 20 steam engines and carriages, turntable, ticket office etc to explore.. Wanderpark with pond and children's play area Village train station (the only one in europe shared by 2 countries) with national park information centre and exhibition space. Glass-blowers. Neo-baroque parish church. Tennis and mini golf. Bayerischer Wald National park - over 200km of trails start from the edge of the village. Riverside walk. Choose from the wide choice of restaurants in the village and surrounding area. Christmas Market with international flavour. Last Sunday before Christmas (21 December 2008)

Things to do within 30 minutes drive

Grosser Arber mountain (1456m) - Gondola cable car (runs most of the year), 6 seater chairlifts and pulls etc. Some of the most modern ski facilities in Germany. Home to FIS Ski World cup women's Slalom and Grand Slalom races. Ski schools and snowboarding railpark, Hiking trails in summer. Wonderful views on clear days as far as the Alps. Cafes and Restaurants. You can even get married at the top of the Arber (For non-German residents allow about 6 months planning time). Spicak (cz) - ski and mountian bike resort and ancient chairlift. Silberberg - family ski resort, silver mine and summer rodelbahn and hiking trails Haus zur Wildnis - National park information centre and animal enclosures Brettersschachten - 90km of cross-country ski trials. Rissloch water falls - an excellent linear day walk starting at Bodenmais train station, pass the falls to the top of the Grosser Arber and down into Bayerisch Eisenstein. Skiing Information:

The guest house is about 7 km from the Arber ski resort, (the most modern in Germany) with 6 lifts including a 6 seater gondola, a range of ski runs for all abilities, ski schools, rail park and more. The skiing on the Arber is regarded as some of the most reliable in Germany. The season lasts from mid December to mid April. Ski bus tickets are available from the Guest house. The Czech ski resort of Spicak is just over border, about 3 km away. Spicak is accessible by train. Cross country ski routes start less than 300m from the guest house. Ski equipment hire and lessons can be booked at the ski shops in the village, about 10 minutes walk from the guest house.

Golf Information:

There are 3 golf courses within 40 minutes drive of the guest house. The closest course, (15 minutes away) is at Oberzwieselau (18 Holes). At Rusel, (40 minutes drive), is the popular 18 hole Deggendorf Golf Course. A new 9 hole course has opened at Haslach
