A 10 minute walked from the bustle of the tavarna/cafe and shopping port the apartment is on a whitewashed lane in the heart of Hydra town. It is a peaceful retreat and a great base from which to explore all aspects of the car free island. The apartment is carved into the rock which keeps is cool in summer, with interesting corners and levels. Open-plan, with a rised double bed at one end, the kitchen at the other, and a living space in the middle. The sofa bed provides accommodation for a third, perhaps smaller, person. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a very affective airconditioning unit. The south facing sun terrace is full of plants and commands beautiful views over the town and the interior of the island and there are large canopies which can provide shade when it gets too hot... Breakfast on the terrace in the morning, plan the day's adventure, and watch the sun go down in the evening..a perefect retreat on a perfect island.

A delightful spacious studio apartment sleeping 2 / 3 tucked away down a quiet cobbled lans on the island of Hydra. A ten minute walk up from the port, and 5 minutes to the beach at Kamini. There is a kitchenette and bathroom with shower, and a powerful and effective airconditioning unit. The sun terrace offers stunning views of the interior of the island, and is a great place to sit with a glass of wine at the end of the day! The studio has literally been dug out of the rock, and in places the rocks have been left exposed to blend with the space. There are charming traditional touches in the studio that make it feel like a real 'home from home', and it is always presented neat and clean!

  • The main bed base, on which a deep and comfortable mattress sits, is carved from the natural rock and nestles into the corner of the room - the bedside table is stoneed topped smaller rock jutting out of the wall. There is adequate hanging space for your clothes and a choice of bedtime reading. The child's bed becomes the sofa by day and hides away sheets , pillows and extra blankets. The room is air conditioned but remains cool as is is built from stone. Althought the apartment is only 20 meters squared there are two double windows and a double door to let in light to give the studio and airy open feel.

Notes: One of the qualities that lend Hydra it's unique charm is the absence of motor vehicles. This, however does make Hydra not so suitable for those who have difficulty in walking unless they are happy to travel everywhere by donkey. There are also many shallow steps and the streets can be wonderfully narrow. So much to explore and you can get fit while doing so!
