Of course, there is far more on offer than simply beaches and water sports in Corfu. Corfu Town, or Kerkyra as it is known on the island has a massive amount to see. It has hardly been touched since it was vacated, and you are given un-restricted access to explore as you wish.

The deserted village of Perithia high on the mountain road across the island is an eerie, yet fascinating place to investigate walk from. The Achillion Palace in the village of Gastouri makes almost essential viewing on a Corfu holiday, and is certainly not a place to visit without a camera!

Corfu’s golf course is a hidden gem. It is high on the list of ’20 Greatest Championship Golf Courses in Europe’, yet is hardly known by those who take self catering Corfu accommodation. It is a wonderful 18 hole course, with luxury facilities and some devilish hazards. If you are looking to play regularly on your holiday, Corfu villas in the Ropa Valley are ideal.

One of the best ways to explore the island is to charter a speed boat. No experience is necessary, and rental prices are extremely good. You can not only take in the magnificent scenery, fish and swim from the boat, but you can find idyllic coves and rock formation to have a picnic from.

The nightlife in Corfu is top class too. You can either head for the 18-30’s resort of Kavos, where cheap cocktails and karaoke fill the evening air, or visit some of the quieter, yet hugely enjoyable tavernas, restaurants and bars which have sprung up across Corfu.

The summer in Corfu is magnificent. Average temperatures in July and August reach 30?C most days, and from April until November, temperatures remain above 15?C. Even during the depths of winter, from December through until January, temperatures are around 10?C.
