Almyrida is considered to be one of the finest holiday destinations in Greece. It is located 30km away from Chania international airport, 15km from Souda’s main ferry port and 20 km from Chania centre. Almyrida offers a fabulous clean sandy beach, blue flag award. The area will offer all visitors almost anything they may desire during their holidays – restaurants and taverns right on the sea, cafes, bars, green grocers, and a large variety of other shops. Almyrida is well known for its fresh fish and its delicious local food. The clean refreshing air and the green hills surrounding Almyrida are ideal places for walkers.

Interesting info about Almyrida: Historically, it introduces great interest. The whole area used to be the colony of the ancient civilization Finikes from which the area Finikia has acquired its name where ruins and ancient tombs exist there, from the old times. At the entrance of Almyrida archaeologists discovered Mosaic and tamls which belong to the Royal Church Rhythm of the 5th century DC. Also, the last but with the Turks took place in Almyrida in1896. Kokkino Horio which is the village where the famous film Zorbas was filmed is near Almyrida. In the village of Kambia, with its old traditional houses and their flowered gardens, is the small chapel of Ag, Nikitas which celebrates its name on the 15th September. Every year, this day a great Cretan Festival (Panigiri) is held in the honour of the church. Every July in Plaka, next to Almyrida, a big Cretan Festival is held called “Plakiana

Good quality appartment with friendly owners, very close to beach and shops and restuarants. would recommend. small pool but it was winter when we visited so didnt use it. appartment clean and well equipped. would stay there again.
