Spacious villa in stunning location next to the sea

This large villa directly overlooks the sea and unspoilt sandy beach of Kera Bay and has superb sea and mountain views. Set in an acre of olive trees on a rural lane and with a beautiful pool (10x5m) the villa provides the ideal location for a quiet, relaxing holiday. There are open and covered terraces to provide sun or shade throughout the day. The villa is very well equipped to a high standard. The open plan split-level layout includes a very spacious lounge/dining area (10x6m) and a newly fitted kitchen plus a large lower sitting room. All these rooms have views across the bay. With high ceilings and many large French or patio doors the property remains cool in summer. The main bathroom and two large bedrooms have super mountain views. Programmable fans and double aspect doors/windows keep the bedrooms cool and the balconies provide direct access to the pool area. Many seaside tavernas and shops are available in nearby Almerida - less than 5 mins by car or 10 mins walk.

The small hamlet of Kera stands on its own bay between the villages of Almerida and Kalyves with their shops and seaside tavernas which are in walking distance or can be reached quickly by car. The immediate area is entirely rural with olive groves and vineyards stretching back towards the White Mountains. Within easy driving distance is the old Venetian city of Chania, set around an ancient harbour lined with waterside tavernas, which provides good shopping facilities and has interesting museums. It is also easy to reach many lovely mountain villages and walk stunning gorges (like the famous Samaria Gorge). You can visit the ancient site of Aptera or travel a little further to Knossos or other Minoan ruins or sites. Also within driving distance are many lovely beaches such as the famous Elafonissi on the west coast or drive to the beautiful south coast on the LIbyan Sea. Or if you want to go further a-field there are boat trips most days to Santorini in the main season.

Private swimming pool

The swimming pool is 10 x 5 metres plus Roman end steps and is at a constant depth of 1.4 metres. It is surrounded by a very large tiled area and has olive and fruit trees plus other specimen plants around it to make this a most attractive area of the property. In addition there are lovely views across our olive trees towards the White Mountains. The bedroom balconies overlook the pool and stairs lead down from them to the pool area below. At one end of the pool area a covered veranda provides a shady spot for reading, relaxing or eating and drinking. There are chairs, a table and sunbeds located around the pool.

Around the villa

From the lane you go along our private drive, with olive trees to one side, to the far end of our land where the villa is located overlooking the bay to maximise the super sea views. There is a large covered terrace (with built-in BBQ, dining table and chairs) accessed from the lounge through the patio doors which will fold back completely. In front of that a verandah runs across most of the front of the house and provides an ideal location for relaxing or dining in the shade whilst listening to the waves on the beach below. In addition at the front there is also a large stone-paved area directly overlooking the bay below which is ideal for somewhere to eat or read sitting in the sun. From the villa you get amazing skies as the sun rises over the small island in the bay and above the Drapanos mountain. A short stroll along the lane from the villa leads to the unspoilt Kera beach in one direction or walk the other way and you can go down to a lovely, small cove on the other side

Gardens and roof terrace

The villa has a large flat roof terrace which has stunning panoramic views across Souda Bay and the Apokronas peninsular and is a great place for watching the sunset. Close to the house there are different garden areas filled with specimen plants and flowers to provide all year round colour and interest and to make the setting for your holiday as attractive as possible.

This is a truly wonderful villa in a quiet, unspoilt area, the pictures do not do this villa justice. It is immaculate both inside and out and includes everything and more that you could wish for.

The owners cannot do enough to help you, both before and during your stay, and have thought of everything to help you enjoy your stay.

It is an easy walk, mostly downhill, to Kalives, although uphill on the way back, but this does help you to walk off your evening meal. Almerida is a bit further but still within reasonable walking distance.

I cannot recommend this highly enough - you will not be disappointed.
