Our lovely villa is near the tiny village of Kambia. It is set in a quiet location and has an acre of natural garden containing olives and carobs. There is a private swimming pool and large patio area with barbecue and stone pergola. Inside, there is a fully equipped luxury kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, fridge freezer etc. Adjoining this is a large dining room and pretty sitting room. Also downstairs is a double en suite bedroom with fantastic views over the pool to the mountains. A wide airy staircase leads upstairs, where there are two double bedded rooms and a spacious en-suite master bedroom. All bedrooms have private balconies with amazing views. The family bathroom has a shower and Jacuzzi. There is a huge roof terrace with panoramic views(not suitable for children). Maid service is twice a week. All rooms have mosquito shutters and ceiling fans. Sun loungers and parasols are provided. A perfect place to chill out and relax.

Nearest Airport: Chania airport approx 25 mins at 12 Miles
Nearest Ferry: Souda at 11 Miles
Nearest Beach: beach at 3.0 Miles
Car: recommended
Kambia is a tiny village with about 25 people. Plaka is the nearest large village (about 3 mins by car)and has tour very good tavernas, a snack bar, and a small mini-market. A little further (5mins by car) is the seaside resort of Almerida where there are plenty of tavernas, shops and shallow clean beaches suitable for children. This is a lovely place to watch the children play whilst you sit and eat. Kalives (10 mins by car)has a good beach, lots more tavernas and shops. There is an excellent bakery here, butchers shops, an organic greengrocery and a large INCA supermarket, where you can get just about anything you need. A lovely place to visit nearby is the ancient village of Apterra. From here you get a wonderful view, down over the fort to Souda Bay. Chania is about 30 mins away and is well worth a visit. Wander through the old town shopping and take time to sit and savour a drink whilst looking across the Venetian harbour.

Notes: Two bedrooms have their own bathrooms with showers. Washing Machine, Iron and Ironing Board provided. Plenty of wardrobe space and clothes hangers. Children are welcome but we do ask that parents supervise them at all times near the pool which is deep even at the shallow end. We recommend that your children can swim fairly well to be on the safe side. There is a small children’s pool attached to the adult pool. Children are not allowed on the roof terrace, as there are steep drops from the roof.

Great getaway destination

What a great place to stay, we have just visited for the fourth time.

The villa is well maintained and spacious. The BBQ, outside eating area and pool are of a high standard with spectacular views, we particulary liked the pink glow over the mountains in the early morning.

The local village shop in Plaka is well stocked and only minutes away by car. There are many tavernas in Plaka and Almerida ( a little further away) with excellant menus.

The beach at Almerida is clean and ideal for families.

A car is a must to explore further afield, like the towns of Chania and Rhythmion. The lake at Kournous and the very interesting fort at Aptra are well worth a visit, further still but easily reached are Elafonnsi and the Samaria gorge.

The perfect place to do as much or as little as you want.

Spectacular location

Spent 2 idyllic weeks here July 2008. Spectacular views, peaceful location, but close to village bar, supermarket, very good restaurants & 2 beaches. Area around Souda Bay is very picturesque and not too commercialised, which was just perfect for what we wanted. Close enough to Chania & Rethymnon for more bustle & loads of shops. Villa is more a home than just a holiday place, so has everything anyone could need. Best relaxing holiday we've had for years. We'll be coming back.

Holiday Perfection

Trianda Kamares is the perfect antidote to hectic lifestyles. The spacious villa which easily accommodates two families is totally as described, in fact, reality exceeds expectations. It is spotlessly clean, well equipped and set in a quiet and tranquil area with simply stunning scenery of the White Mountains and views to the sea. The pool and outside eating area provide the perfect place to enjoy long, lazy lunches whilst still enabling children to be safely watched. Our four boys (aged 7-16) are very happy to enjoy the simple pleasures of the pool and the local beach which also offers excellent sailing/windsurfing hire.

The local village boasts an excellent shop with the best fresh fruit and vegetables in the area, and several tavernas serving simple but good food. Friendly service locally means you need go no further if you don't want to travel. However, if you wish to explore a car is a necessity, but Plaka is within walking distance if you want to enjoy a drink with your meal, although it is uphill on the return!

We cannot fault any part of our holiday; booking with Sue the owner is friendly and informative, and once in Crete Yvonne and Kevin clean and maintain the villa/pool brilliantly (we have never been to a private villa with such frequent cleaning and laundry changes), as well as being an endless source of friendly and useful information.

Our two families thoroughly enjoy this lovely villa, ever changing mountain views, exploring the most undeveloped part of Crete we have found, and simply relaxing and enjoying the Cretan sun with a drink, a good book (extensive selection also in villa) and the company of good friends. Perfection!

We are booked to return for two weeks this August for the fourth consecutive year - does that not say it all?

Sun and Friends on Crete

With 6 friends, we comfortably shared this lovely home. We selected it on the basis of the website description, and found it to perfectly reflect reality. The owners were gracious and helpful (met us on arrival) and the service was friendly, reliable and efficient.
It is a lovely site from which to tour a fast-disappeqaring old Crete. This location appears to us the best on the island, with less major development and interesting sites, such as Apterra. We toured, and we shopped for our own in-house cooking -- each of us loving cooking. Definitely to be recommended.
