Villa HELIOS built 2004. The villa (120 m2) has its own private pool & 3 bedrooms to accommodate up to 6 persons (max. 7). Ground floor consists of a spacious open plan sitting/dinning room, a fully equipped kitchen, a bedroom with 2 single beds and a bathroom. First floor has 2 bedrooms (1xdouble and 1x2 single beds) and a bathroom. From 2 balconies there is a beautiful view to the sea and to the impressive “white mountains” of Chania. Wooden ceilings throughout the property. Equipped with air/conditioning (throughout), satellite TV, stereo, washing machine, dishwasher etc. The villa has its own 600 m2 garden, a 38 m2 pool and a barbecue area. The property is surrounded by a high stone-wall. There is a possibility for some kind of sports, fishing, snorkeling, diving, paragliding, mountain biking, and horse riding. Supermarkets, taverns, cafes, a physician, a pharmacy are within 100-300 m. The beach is only 100m apart. A rental car is included to discover the beautiful surroundings

Newly built villa, with 3 bedrooms, garden, pool for up to 7 persons. On ground floor has a spacious open plan sitting/dinning room, tastefully furnished, a fully equipped kitchen (cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, e-kettle, coffee maker, toaster), a twin bedroom and a room with shower/WC. The first floor has 1 double and 1 twin bedroom, and a bathroom/ WC. The bedrooms have balconies with see view, while the windows at the rear have view to the majestic «white mountains». Beautiful wooden ceilings throughout the property. Air/conditioning (cooling + heat), mosquito screens throughout, satellite TV, washing machine, make the stay more pleasant. The own garden has a 38 m2 pool (1.10-1,60 m deep) with a turbo jet system, adequate sun loungers/umbrellas and barbeque area. MALEME, is a historical village, from the post Minoan period, on the coast of the northern site of west Crete, with approx. 800 inhabitants. It lies on small hills in the greenest region of Crete, surrounded by olive trees, orange trees and wine yards and offers to the gourmets the famous olive oil, the excellent thyme honey and the homemade Cretan wines.The visitor will enjoy the beautiful sea, the majestic view on the 2500 m “white mountains”, the amazing natural beauty of the region, the gorges, the walking on E4 alpin paths as well as the archaeological places Kydonia, Polyrhynia and Falasarna, the post Minoan tomb (all artefacts found here are displayed in the archaeological museum of Chania, in the old Venetian city), and the memorial and the graves of the fallen German troops during 2nd WW. Maleme is remembered mostly for the fierce fighting, that took place here during the German assault on Crete in 1941. The battle of Crete is a worldwide symbol of struggle for freedom.

I've never written a review for a vacation home we've rented, but in this case I must make an exception. As the other reviews attest to, Villa Helios is a true gem and our hostess and host Mary and Michael K. are exceptionaly gracious and made our stay truly memorable.

We rented for about 10 days in early October 07 and the weather was perfect. (about 25 degrees C and sunny except for one day when it rained)
The villa was spacious and clean and the location was ideal no matter what you like to do: relax by the pool, stroll along the beach, bicycle, shop, hike in the mountains, or explore the west coast beaches. (You do know that Falarsanna on the west coast is rated as one of the best beaches in the world?!)

The ages in our group were 63(Dad), 53(Mom), 18(our daughter), 18 (her friend) and 12 (our daughter).
Given the range of ages in our group you would think that it would be impossible to satisfy everyone, but this wasn't the case. My husband could relax by the pool or join us for a drive to the INCREDIBLE west coast beaches. We took a drive in the mountains while the 18 year olds went shopping in Chania after working on their sun tans. There's a bus that passes by about a block from the villa and goes directly to Chania so it's very convenient. I'm the restless type so I rented a bike and early in the morning I'd explored a bit on my own before the rest of the gang got moving. (Don't miss the the historic sites from WWII).

I think our youngest was happiest of all (despite her being stuck with her parents) and she keeps asking when we'll be going back to Crete. It won't be this year, but hopefully it will be in the not too distant furture. Efaristo once again, Mary and Michael!
