Villa Roza sits high on a ridge over looking sea at southern entrance to Souda Bay. The villa is a modern split level, open plan with living spaces, elegantly furnished with cool high sloping ceilings The adjacent bedroom wing has 2 double bedrooms and a bathroom. There is a modern fitted kitchen & utility, a separate shower room off the internal staircase leading to the 1st floor 'Tower Room'. This is a twin bedroom, with two very private sun terraces, facing east and west. Outside there are 5 terraces; 2 to the north, for cooling sea breezes, 1 covered 'sunset' to the west, 1 'sun trap' to the south/west, 1 eastern entrance, is vine covered. All windows & doors have mosquito screens & sun blinds. Garden borders adjacent to the villa are cultivated with shrubs, flowers, fruit trees, herbs, bougainvillea climbers. The swimming pool is 10 x 5 m 0.4-1.3 meters deep with a Roman bath stepped end. The remainder of the garden is wild with boundary stone walls & main entrance gate

Villa Roza is on the outskirts of Kokkino Horio (Red Village) a small hilltop village close to the northern coast and a few kilometres east of Almirida. A sleepy traditional village of narrow streets and a square with eucalyptus trees. The villa is 6 minutes level walk from a taverna in the old school grounds at the beginning of the lane. It sits high on a ridge over looking the sea at the entrance to Souda Bay and is set in the middle of it's own grounds of 1.5 acres, among ancient stone 'wheat' terraces with wild almond & pear trees. There are panoramic views of 270 degrees, over looking the sea to 'Akrotiri' peninsula in the north, the Turkish Fort at 'Aptera' in the west & the 'White Mountains' to south & southwest.

We have just returned from a week at Villa Rosa and a more beautiful location would be hard to find. The villa is private but has the most amazing views across the bay and of the mountains. It is well maintained and has everything you could wish for to help enjoy your holiday. the pool was great and the children spent many happy hours in it. We ate at the local taverna which is about 3 minutes walk away and has a vast choice. We can recommend the village wine! Slightly further afield we ate in Almerida on the seafront and all the tavernas were friendly and food was good. We had several days out but can recommend Georgiopoulis for the river trips to see the loggerhead turtles and Lake Kournas to see the terrapins. bothe were very enjoyable. All in all a great holiday but could have done with 2 weeks!

Just returned from an idyllic holiday at Villa Roza. The vista from the villa is simply breath-taking, with panormic views across Souda Bay and the mountains. It is very private yet close enough to the local village to walk and buy provisions or go for a delicious meal at the local taverna, who will also provide cooked food for you to take back to the villa to eat (we did this a number of times). Yvonne the housekeeper/manager is wonderful and keeps the villa spotlessly clean. Chris the owner has had an enormous water tank installed so any water cuts in the area pass unnoticed. The inviting pool is a decent size and Ray keeps it in good order without over-doing it with the chlorine. Everything you could possibly need is there - there is even a good selection of books to read and CDs to play (Nat King Cole with a glass of wine watching the sun set over the mountains - bliss!). Do not be put off by the absence of air conditioning units - the way Chris has designed the villa means the pleasant sea breezes cool the villa perfectly well and there are electric fans in the bedrooms if you feel the need to use them (I didn't and I stayed July/August). Chris goes the extra mile to ensure the holiday goes smoothly - I was called before I left the UK and received emails during my stay. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings away from the hussle and bustle of a tourist resort, yet close enough to visit if you wish, villa Roza is perfect. I will definitely be returning.

Zurück nach 2 Wochen in der tollen Villa Roza können wir diese nur wärmstens empfehlen. Chris, ein englischer Architekt, hat ein fantastisch schönes Haus in absolut ruhiger Lage geschaffen. Die Villa liegt auf dem großen Grundstück im beschaulichen Kokkino Horio uneinsehbar auf einer Anhöhe. Konzeption und Einrichtung sind anspruchsvoll mit Still und lassen nichts vermissen. Haus, Garten und der herrliche Pool sind in Toppzustand und werden vor Ort exzellent von angenehmen Menschen betreut (Dank an Yvonne, Ray und Roy). Der Ausblick von der/den Veranda über die gesamte Souda-Bucht und auf die Weißen Berge ist atemberaubend. Wir werden Sie bei Frühstück und Abendessen vermissen! Am Ende der Grundstücksauffahrt zur Villa bietet ein Carport einen schattigen Parkplatz (Mietwagen unbedingt nötig). Die Region ist touristisch britisch geprägt (aber von der netten Art), Hokkino Horio dörflich mit uriger Taverne und kleinem Lebensmittelladen, im nahen Plaka, Almirida und Kalives gibt es ausreichend Restaurants und Versorgungsmöglichkeiten. Zu empfehlen sind der INKA Supermarkt am Ortseingang von Kalives, größere Lidl-Läden in Chania oder Rethimion. Strände in Kalives und Almirida mit aller Infrastruktur, oder die kleine kaum besuchte Bucht bei Kera (FKK möglich).

Der Kontakt zum Besitzer Chris ist äußerst nett, er kümmert sich rührend um seine Gäste, von umfassenden Informationen bis ins Detail, Aushandlung der Zahlungsbedingungen, lokalen Empfehlungen, prompte Beantwortung von Fragen, steht stets telefonisch zur Verfügung und erkundigt sich vor- und nachher nach den Wünschen und Wohlergehen.
