The property is situated on the hillside between Elounda & Plaka, about 200 metres above the sea with sea views to the Gulf of Mirabello, the bay of Korfus & Spinalonga. The picturesque resort of Elounda is nearby with its very good selection of restaurants, bars, shops, & sandy beaches. It is a 10 minute drive by road and walkable by a steep mountain track. Excursions can easily be organized to the Minoan palace of Knossos & other interesting archaeological sites. From Elounda, boat trips can be taken to the Island of Spinalonga - featured in Victoria Hislop's novel, 'The Island'. Crete has some spectacular landscapes & many of the Gorge Walks are renowned for their interesting flora and fauna. The Samaria Gorge is the longest in Europe and now a National Park. The vibrant town of Ayios Nikolaos (8km) is easily accessed by regular buses or taxis & caters for a cosmopolitan clientele.
