Kefalonia is the largest of the Ionian Islands, and like many of the Ionian Islands, it has a huge wealth of historical sites to be discovered. The village of Fiscardo is defiantly worth a visit on an Ionian Island holiday as it was the only village to survive the 1953 earthquake in tact.

Zakynthos (Zante) is a tourist’s dream, with long sandy beaches, hidden coves in shear white cliffs, turquoise seas and iconic architecture. Zante also houses the Byzantine Museum.

Lefkada (Lefkas) was only separated from the mainland when the Corinthians cut a canal through sandbanks in 600BC. The island missed the package tourist boom, so remains wild and beautiful, with beaches no less impressive than those of the more popular islands remaining blissfully empty for much of the year.

Paxi (Paxos) is a tiny island, perfect for a relaxing, quiet holiday. The snorkelling is spectacular, and there are day trips to other islands, especially Corfu, but a holiday rental here means you can return to the peace of Paxi each day.
