The apartment was perfect - a large studio room with balcony providing a wonderful view of Assos.
The apartment was cleaned daily and the resident staff very helpful. A small kitchenette, with a very useful fridge. Excellent air-con facilities.
We had decided not to hire a car, and were happy making use of the Taxi's on the island. Expect to pay 50 euros from the airport, 25 euros to Fiscado & 20 euros to Myrtos beach.
The owners arranged for a cab to pick us up from the airport and all correspondence was dealt with with very efficiently.
Assos is beautiful !!! We had morning coffee and lunch in Nirandes, when we were in Assos, and had made use of the 7 restaurants in the village for our evening meal. Assos is very small, charming and laid back - it has 1 grocery shop and a small gift shop. No Hotels, just apartments and villa's. The village was fully booked when we stayed yet it never felt crowded. It was one of the most relaxing and restful holidays we have had.
The water in the harbour was clear and warm and great for swimming, snorkeling and cooling down. One tip the beach is pebbles so invest in some swim shoes which you can buy from the grocery shop for 10 euros.
Make sure you take a walk up to the castle - whilst its just a ruin, the views are spectacular. On the way back look out for the arched gateway beyond the derelict buildings (with bars at the windows), there's a path that runs along a cliff and brings you back an alternative route - stunning views. Take lots of water with you!
We visited Fiscado a couple of times and Myrtos beach both great trips out. Take your beach gear with you to Fiscado, there's a great little beach again with clear water and some natural shade from a couple of trees. If you you fancy it, its not far from the boat hire chap at the end of the harbour, just keep walking up the slight hill and follow the road round. So arrive late morning, grab some lunch, chill on the breach and then at 7 pm head back to the marina for cocktails and an evening meal before making your way back to Assos.
Can you tell yet - that we are fans!!
We would recommend this apartment for a quick romantic getaway. Practical, clean, and a fab location.
