The Village
In the village centre you will find a choice of cafes/bars and tavernas, with excellent fish, three of which stay open all year, all within walking distance of the villa. The village also has two bakeries and two general stores. The beach is also within walking distance of the apartments and is sandy and gently sloping - making it very suitable for young children. There is also a children’s playground, 5-a-side football pitch and volleyball court next to the beach. In high season there are 2 beach bars. In summer Amaliapolis is popular with holidaying Greek families. You can experience the 'real' Greece here largely untouched by mass market tourism. Sit in the village square looking out over the sea and watch the world go by.
The Area
As well as the village beach there are several good beaches within a 30 minute drive. You can also take a boat trip to the island of Skiathos with its famous sandy beaches from the nearby village of Achillion. The area of Magnesia is rich in archaeological sites including Ancient Thebes, Prehistoric Dimini, Sesklo and Dimitras. Volos is a bustling small city with a wide range of shops, restaurants and ferry links to the nearby islands of Skiathos, Alonissos and Skopelos. The Pelion Peninsula is within driving distance with beautiful scenery - a good day trip. In winter there is even a ski resort on the peninsula! Explore the seaside villages or drive up into the mountains for breathtaking views.
If you want to venture further afield both classical Delphi (approx 120km) and the Byzantine monasteries of Meteora (approx 180km) make fascinating excursions as does the lesser known archaeological site of Dion (approx 170km). Visit Amaliapolis in Spring and see the hillsides covered in beautiful wildflowers. Take advantage of the lower temperatures in May or June if you want to sight see as well as swim. The sea is still wonderfully warm in September and October and the day time temperatures not quite so hot as July and August. Even in the winter months the weather is often bright and sunny.

Janice and Billy wrote: Just had to write to tell you what a wonderful, wonderful holiday we had in Amaliapolis.
As I mentioned previously, we have been to Greece five times before - to islands never the mainland - so we know that the Greek people are special. I have to say though that nothing, nothing, could have prepared us for the kindness and generosity shown to us by the people in the village, we were totally bowled over by it.'
Sue wrote: 'Your apartment at Amaliapolis is very nice and I was surprised at how much accommodation we had, especially the lovely balconies. The village is very pretty and friendly. We loved the little cafe/bar just past the main square, with its wonderful view of the little church on the island... We really enjoyed our stay and feel that the accommodation is very good value and in a very convenient location. Thank you for such good communication and directions prior to the holiday it made our journey planning and arrival very easy and trouble free.'
