Villa Yiannis

We booked online with the owners, Helen and Yiannis Stevens. Mrs Stevens was extremely efficient and friendly and went out of her way to help with any queries we had. Yiannis is actually out in Kefalonia for the season and was very helpful and friendly, booking our car hire, providing tips on good, cheap local wine and generally being a mine of information on what to see and do on the island. The Villa itself was absolutely lovely! It was immaculately well kept, very spacious and the standard of decor was very good and the whole place felt like a home from home. The pool was bigger than expected in a large, very well kept garden with lovely floral borders and a bottom garden and patio with stunning views over rural land to the sea. The garden also had plenty of sunloungers and large umbrellas so that in the heat of the day, there was always plenty of shade. The large outdoor table was under a shaded wood canopy and made eating outdoors a delight. In the bottom patio area, there was another table, perfect for an evening drink or early morning coffee watching cruise ships sail into Argostoli and watching local farmers herd sheep. As the villa is in such a rural area, we hired a car for the whole of the 2 weeks. The nearest decent supermarkets were in Argostoli and Lassi where you could easily stock up on anything you needed. The island itself is so stunning and we can particularly recommend Myrtos Bay, Assos, Fiskardo, Poros and Sami as places to visit. The local Ammes beach was our favourite beach - perfect for our two children as it shelves gently into the perfectly clear, blue, Ionian sea. The golden sand was perfect for sandcastles. Both Helen and Yiannis recommended good local tavernas but our favourite was Fois which is just down near Ai Helios beach - family run and very friendly. We stayed at Villa Yiannis with our two young children and grandparents and all 3 generations were more than catered for. For anyone seeking a holiday in a quiet, rural location where the locals are genuinely welcoming and friendly, this is the place for you. This was all in all a very relaxing, fantastic holiday which we will hopefully be repeating in another couple of years.
