Villa--Greeted at ferry by kind hosts, guided to rental car location. Lead the way to the villa twice (the rental cars were way too small for luggage for family of four) after our late night arrival to be sure we knew the way. Not overly remote, but need a car (or motor bikes) in this location. The area is easily accessible and a gorgeous drive. Photos are good. Bedding accomodations nice (sleepers available, but 'real beds' accomodate five). Workable kitchen, altho' we didn't cook, we easily could have.
Would love to have had shade on the roof top terrace to maximize views, although the front "porch" was a great venue (the breezes are lovely). A/C worked well. Pool was clean, appealing and convenient for the kids. Would loved to have stayed longer.
AREA--The water sports are not our thing, but are nearby. Found beaches tough to access (small rocky roads which make you think you have gone the wrong way). Drove the main road from Parikia south along the coast. Took longer than anticipated. Just beautiful. Restaurants are pretty standard tourist/Greek, and not abundant out of the village areas. Grocery markets hard to spot. Main pedestrian street in Parikia full of pretty shops--off the beaten path--ask! Ancient streets worth exploring.
Trekked the Byzantine Road from Lefkes to a coastal village. Had lunch at a family restaurant in the village, but missed the bus back to Lefkes and spent a lot getting a taxi back instead of waiting two and half hours until next bus. Check schedules to time this trek properly. Pack water, the views and the history are worth it. Heard Naussoa is special, but didn't get to go.
GETTING THERE--Ferry from Piraeus was comfortable in the 1st class area. Going back to Piraeus was just short of torture--didn't get the nicer seating area. The cheaper ticket owners wait until ferry is underway and then come to scavenge unclaimed seats and put extra chairs in the aisle. People sleeping all over the hallways. No help with luggage--you're on your OWN, dragging them up stairs! Travel LIGHT! Going out, a crew member guided us (by hand signals) to an area for luggage, which we were rudely denied on the trip in. Trip back in felt like steerage, hot, crowded, noisy--even with first class seats, not the same area as before. Don't know about flying into Paros, but might be worth a try. Don't listen to the internet wisdom saying 'take the slow ferry for the view'. Take the fast ferry. We didn't, but didn't get much of a view anyway.
