Villa Kostoula is a wonderful property for a large party or family. Situated in a peaceful, pine forested, residential area. The villa is a short walk from the sea and a lovely secluded bay. It is surrounded by a private garden with swimming pool. There are wonderful views from the pool and terraces towards the pretty island of Spetses. Two bedrooms on the upper floor and two on the ground floor. All bedrooms have shower and WC en-suite. The main living area on the upper floor opens onto a covered veranda, a perfect cool corner to enjoy lazy meals. There is a pretty and comfortably furnished living area and fully fitted kitchen and dining area. The ground floor can be reached by an internal or external stair and comprises one double, one twin bedroom opening onto the garden and pool terrace, a further living area, kitchenette/laundry area. Sleeps 8 in comfort.

Porto Heli: The pretty village of Porto Heli lies around the loveliest natural bay in the Peloponnese. It faces the island of Spetses and the mountains across the Argo-Saronic gulf. Easily accessible from Athens either by road or hydrofoil. There are some excellent restaurants and tavernas in the village as well as a good variety of bars and clubs. The sheltered bays are ideal for water sports and there are two excellent ski schools, as well as qualified tuition in wake-boarding, wind-surfing, dinghy sailing, and scuba diving.

Places to visit: In the Peloponnese you can visit many of the ancient sites of Greece, most within easy reach. These include the ancient theatre at Epidaurus, where performances are still held in the summer months. Nafplion, a very attractive town and the first capital city of Greece.It is dominated by a medieval castle. Agamemnon's palace at Mycenae and the impressive walls at Tiryns. If you take to the sea, then the islands of Spetses, Hydra and Poros each have their own special beauty and character. There is a regular hydrofoil service from the village as well as ferries and water taxis.

When to visit: The summer months are the liveliest in the village and on the beaches. It is a wonderful area for all kinds of watersports. From water-skiing with professional coaches, slalom courses and ski-jump to sailing, windsurfing, wake boarding or just pottering along the coast in a rented boat. For less energetic break the loveliest days for walking and exploring are in the quieter months. Springtime the colour and variety of the wild flowers is amazing, you can walk for hours enjoying the peaceful scenery. Autumn the clarity of light is extraordinary, if you are interested in painting or exploring the ancient sights, this is the time to visit.

Good, but not as expected

We had a great holiday, but our main problem with this villa was that there was an expectation gap between what was advertised and what the villa was like in reality.

First and foremost, the beautiful view that you see above is not the view from the villa - it is very mis-leading. The owner will say that the picture is clearly labelled as a view of Hydra, which you can't see from the villa, but when you don't know the area you would assume this is the view from the villa. The house you can see is not the villa you'll be staying in.

Secondly, the owner lists the villa as luxury. It is by no means luxury, which also led to the expectation gap.

Having said that, we had a lovely holiday and the villa was everything we needed - if it had been advertised correctly we still would have chosen it. The pool area in particular is excellent, and the pool is cleaned regularly.

The villa was clean, and had plenty of amenities - it is well stocked, and in a good location - Porto Heli and Spetses were both in striking distance and we found it to be a great location for a family holiday.
Owner's Response: I’m sorry to hear that the party was disappointed with the house but I feel the implication that the photos are misleading to be unfair.
The view towards Hydra is clearly described as being just that, it is designed to give an idea of the area and the truly spectacular views. The house is described as facing the island of Spetses. In addition a very clear photo of the house shows that is a different colour to the corner of the house in the photo of the view towards Hydra.
Luxury is a very subjective term and I have a visitors book full of praise for the house, inevitably some things will not be to everyone’s taste.

The villa is situated in a wonderful location, only a 5-10 minute drive from the quiet yet cosmopolitian town of Porto Heli. A two minute car drive or a slightly longer walk (it is quite hilly) will take you to the boat port where you can catch a ferry or hire a private taxi to the beautiful island of Spetses, ideal for nights out in restaurants or bars as well as exploring the beautiful coves by motocycle or boat.

The villa is ideal, very quiet down a small track in a residential area. The villa is not overlooked and the pool and pool area is large. Our party of 8 (4 couples) found the facilities in the villa excellent and each bedroom having a separate bathroom was ideal.

There are 4 table areas for eating (one in the kitchen, one on the 1st floor balcony and two around the pool - one sun and one shade). This meant that eating in was enjoyable, escecially with the poolside bbq.

The villa was clean and well stocked for essentials in the kitchen, washing machine and powder and the dishwasher was a bonus.

We would thoroughly recommend this villa to anyone who either wants to relax around the pool or explore the local towns, villages and islands. The owner is also very helpful.
