Our stylish villa, situated close to the enchanting Venetian town of Nafplion, offers the perfect location for a self-catering beach and cultural holiday all-in-one. Set in a small complex of villas in the village of Assini with views across the valley to the mountain backdrop, it is just 2 km from the sandy beaches of Tolo and with a plethora of cultural sites to see in the local area. Villa Amelia is an ideal base for all times of the year and is great for both families and couples. The villa comprises of, at the entrance level, a fully-equipped kitchen with door leading to an enclosed courtyard, a spacious living/dining room with sliding doors leading to a large balcony and a WC. Stairs lead to the Upper level with 3 double bedrooms (1 en-suite), bathroom and access to a large balcony. At the Pool level there is a lovely 35sq m swimming pool surrounded by a stone tiled terrace, garden area and entrance to a separate studio with double bed, bathroom and kitchenette.

The Peloponese never fails to surprise us with its abundance of historical sights, natural beauty and clear blue waters. The nearby resort of Tolo offers a perfect location for days of sunbathing and relaxed evenings eating in tavernas set at the edge of the sea. Nafplion, the first capital of Greece, is truly beautiful and needs to be visited several times to discover all the secret corners of this town. The little shops offer many interesting artistic items and a morning spent wandering through the narrow streets is essential. Nafplio also has some lovely tavernas and fish restaurants for al fresco evening dining. Just a short drive away you can find an abundance of historical sights such as the Ancient Theatre of Epidavros, Agamennon's Tomb at Mycenae, Nafplion's famous castle, etc.

Notes: 8 sun loungers are provided for relaxation by the pool. There is a large table that sits 8 people comfortably on the balcony leading off the living room. The enclosed courtyard provides a safe and shady area for young children to play. The sofa in the living room can be made into a comfortable double bed. All windows have mosquito screens.

Places to Visit:: Apart from the historical sites already mentioned we also recommend a visit to some of the islands located off the Peloponnese mainland. From Tolo, in the summer months, a ferry can take you to Spetses, Hydra and Poros, all absolutely delightful islands to spend a day on. We can arrange for a wine and ouzo tasting session at a lovely shop in Nafplion. The owner is extremely helpful and very knowledgeable about Greek wines and Ouzo. He speaks excellent English. There are some wonderful Greek wines available so an hour spent here would be very enjoyable! Why not visit the Nemea area where there are a choice of wineries to visit - you may be surprised by the quality of the Peloponnese wine and the drive is extremely pleasant. From Tolo you could hire a boat to go and find a secluded bay behind one of the islands. A great way to spend the morning.

Tolo:: This resort is just a kilometre away and offers all the essentials for the beach element of your holiday. It has lovely sandy beaches with sun loungers for hire and a full range of water sports available. It provides a variety of restaurants, many on the waterfront, from typical Greek tavernas to Italian bistros. It also has supermarkets, a post office and other useful little shops. We find the locals to be extremely friendly and very helpful.

I can reommend this villa for a good faily holiday.It was well maintained and the facilities provided were of a high stanard.We were able to visit places of inerest and eat at some good restaurants in lovely locations.
Although the villa was not recommended for older people my disabled husband enjoyed the studio which reduced the number of times he used the stairs.
The children loved the pool and the cool villa was restful .
An enjoyable experience.

Magnificently located with picturesque view, Villa Amelia enabled our family to experience a very enjoyable vacation in Greece. Very clean and spacious, the Villa is very close to beaches, islands and amazing archeological sites. It is ideal for couples and families seeking comfort, privacy and style. The owner could not have been more gracious and helpful to ensure that our stay at Villa Amelia far exceeded any expecation we had and left us with a very memorable experience.
Recommended for:  Adventure Seekers, Tourists without a Car, Families with Young Children, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Age 55+

Great week in April 2008 for an Australian couple enticing adult children from London and Chicago. A bit over 2 hours from Athens airporet and lots and lots to see within easy driving distance, especially Nafplion. Too early to use the pool but the house was just what we needed - as described, clean and and ready for us with a fun restaurant within 5 minutes drive. Can't wait to return!
