As a family we love Rhodes and have been several times. We love the beaches at Lindos and Glystra (nr Lardos).
We tend to come towards the end of May when the temperatures are slightly lower but the weather guaranteed. Having said that it is still very hot averaging well over 30 C every day we were there and not a cloud in the sky.
As far as places to visit we favour Rhodes town itself with all its history and Lindos for both history and its quaint beauty. Magnificent how Lindos has incorporated the modern but still looks and feels to be an ancient town with no cars, narrow sreets and alley ways full of little shops, bars and restaurants. In the evening the rooftops come alive with places to eat and drink.
We stayed at the above villa just outside Kakathos. It is situated away from the hurley burley of the main resorts but close to the small village of Kalathos. You can walk to the local beach (bit too far for us but we're a bit on the lazy side, did it once!!) or you can catch a bus from the bottom of the rhode to the larger resorts, Lindos and Pefkos were our favourites. We found car hire was essential for us and we went to Pefkos or Lardos most evenings.
The villa itself was spot on to our requirements. Very clean and well laid out it had everything you would need to make it a home from home. The pool and terrace were big enough if you wanted to spend the day away from it all and just relax around the pool and sometimes it was an effort to drag ourselves away.
The whole operation of hiring the villa was handled very efficiently. All communication with the owner was extremely clear and straight forward, If it is your first time renting for yourself it could not be easier. On arrival we picked up our car we had hired and managed to find the villa (in the dark) using the directions with ease.
All in all a great holiday and for someone looking for the privacy that a villa provides this property and location was ideal. No doubt we will be coming back again....and again
