Northern Zakynthos epitomises the charming and laid back style of Greek rural living. Ella's is set amongst the cyprus and olive trees of Skinari. It enjoys stunning views across to Kephalonia from every room, as well as the terraces and swimming pool. The terraces and pool area are completely secluded allowing you to relax in complete privacy. There are plenty of sun beds around the pool, together with a table tennis table and a gas barbecue on the lower terrace. On the upper terrace there is a large table so you can enjoy alfresco eating under a vine. The house is very comfortable with a fully equipped kitchen, large dining table and two sofas. There are 2 double bedrooms on the ground floor (one ensuite), 2 bathrooms, and one large air conditioned bedroom with 4 single beds above the living area. Fans and heaters are available when necessary.

This area of Northern Zakynthos is an area of outstanding natural beauty where the only noises you can usually hear are the cicadas and the tinkling of goat bells. Time stands still. Luxuriantly fertile mountains, ancient villages, Venetian monasteries, together with the bustling resorts of the south make this an island to please everyone. There is a delightful little cove just 4 minutes away in the car and a larger beach 7 minutes away with sunbeds, pedaloes and taverna. You can find long sandy beaches at the lively resort of Alykes together with water sports. The nearest villages are Ano Volimes and Volimes just 5 minutes away in the car, you can buy bread, milk, fruit, vegetables and most other provisions. There is a local shop 200 metres away selling non perishable goods, excellent tavernas are listed in the house with directions all offering local organic dishes. The famous shipwreck beach can be visited by boat which leaves from the port Agios Nikolaos (12 mins by car).

Description: Ella's was built 6 years ago and recently has had the addition of a beautiful 10m pool which nestles below the house and two terraces and enjoys stunning views across the olive groves and cypress trees over the sea towards Kephalonia. It is very peaceful and quiet and the house and the pool area are completely secluded. The sea is five minutes away by car, and the lively resort of Alykes just 15 minutes. An English run sailing club is nearby where you can enjoy delicious alfresco eating (use of facilities by prior arrangement and depending of time of year). Spiti Martini is 150 metres from Ella's and provides an ideal opportunity for 2 families or larger groups to holiday together.

Nearby: The villages of Ano Volimes and Volimes are just 5 minutes away by car where you can buy fresh bread, milk, fruit, vegetables and other groceries along with local pottery. There is also a local shop just 200 metres away selling non perishable goods. We have a list of local tavernas, all family run and producing delicious local organic dishes. You can visit old monasteries, walk among the countryside where the smell of wild herbs is intoxicating, taking in breathtaking views of cliffs, sea and amazing sunsets! You can visit the famous shipwreck beach taking in the equally famous and stunning blue caves by boat which leaves the local port at regular intervals just 12 minutes drive away.

General Information: For good supermarkets, lively bars, restaurants, cash point machines, long sandy beaches the resort of Alykes is just 15 minutes drive away. If you are after excellent shopping, art and culture the main town, Zakynthos, is just 40 minutes drive and certainly worth visiting. The squares in the evening tend to be very lively and there are lots of restaurants to chose from where you can sit under the stars and enjoy local tradition Greek dishes. The island itself is easy to drive around and the scenery very beautiful. You will find a impressive list of local tavernas, attractions etc together with a map of the island in the house.

Fantastic villa in a stunning location

Ella's is a charming villa with lots of style - typical of the Greek islands. When we first arrived at the villa we were all excited by the size and standard of the accommodation and when you walk out through the double doors to the rear you get a wonderful view across the sea to Kefalonia and an amazing terraced area which overlooks the pool etc.
Inside easily accommodates 6-8 people and is well equipped with DVD Player, iPod dock, etc and the kitchen is well proportioned and has plenty of crockery/utensils etc. A lovely big dining table indoors and outside on the terrace made for some great meals in the evening and at lunchtime. The sunrise from Ella's is great if you can get up that early!
The villa is located about 45 minutes from the airport and is close to local beaches and restaurants. There is plenty to do on the island and everything is easily accessible.
If you are looking for a large villa in Zakynthos, Ella's will be able to accommodate you and help you wind down to the pace of the local life.

We had a perfect two weeks! From the moment we arrived we were enchanted with the place. The villa is a beautiful building and has everything you'd need. The pool is fantastic. The kitchen's great; we also liked the fact that there was no television and also the mini disc collection is excellent! We were both pretty tired so just sunbathed and swam. It was probably the most relaxing holiday we've ever had. We loved the fact that it was so quiet and private (no bikini marks!). The girls from the Peligoni were all lovely and always made sure we were ok and asked if we needed help or advice on anything. The welcome pack was far more comprehensive than we expected - really thoughtfully put together. We've some beautiful photos to remind us of our time there. All in all we had a great time with no worries or stress about arrangements or finding our way around. We'd love to return.
