Marnixkade Canalview Apartment is located in the historic Jordaan district on a quiet canal in the heart of Amsterdam. Most Amsterdam landmarks are within walking distance and there are many shops and restaurants just around the corner. There is an indoor swimming pool and health club just one short block away.

This apartment is located in a typical 19th century canal house. APARTMENT HAS A BEAUTIFUL CANALVIEW from Living room and dining room. It is spacious and has been renovated to include all modern conveniences and has a fully equipped kitchen. It is fully furnished and includes all linens. Goose down comforters, and an entertainment system are just a few of the amenities. Historical accents include stained glass en suite doors.

This second floor apartment offers fabulous 180 degree views of the canal and park from the living room/dining room. It is spacious and bright. The Marokko is painted in warm earth tones, has wooden floors and is decorated with Moroccan accents. The kitchen is equipped with modern appliances including a refrigerator, microwave/convection oven, dishwasher, stove, and coffee maker and is stocked with all the necessary house wares. There is also a washing machine/dryer to do your laundry during your stay.

Marnixkade Canalview Apartments are located on a quiet canal in the heart of Amsterdam's historic Jordaan district, a vibrant area with many shops and dozens of restaurants within easy walking distance. You can walk to most of Amsterdam’s favourite landmarks and Central Station is about 15-20 minutes on foot.

It is also ideally situated, with tram and bus stops just 50 meters (about 150 feet) away. Tram 10 takes you directly to Amsterdam’s nightlife on Leidseplein (just 5 stops), while Tram 3 takes you to The Concertgebouw (Concert Hall) and many of the major museums (Van Gogh, Rijksmuseum). Bus 18 takes you, in 5 stops, to Central Station and Amsterdam’s emerging waterfront (Bimhuis, Jazz Hall, and Stedelijk Museum).

Although centrally located, the apartments' location across from a park and small marina provide a quiet and natural serenity you wouldn't expect in a city. Bike rental nearby. Paid street side parking is available.

Our Philosophy: HOME AWAY FROM HOME

We travel a lot both for work and for holidays, and it is these experiences that have inspired us to create the Marnixkade Canalview Apartment. In developing the apartments, we have tried to combine the flexibility and relaxed atmosphere of a vacation rental with the local touches of a B&B and the comfort of a boutique hotel.

The apartment has been furnished with a theme and include the amenities one needs or wants when travelling, we strive for understated elegance, where comfort takes precedence over pomposity.

ENVIRONMENT

We have also tried to factor in care for the environment when renovating and furnishing the apartments. Eco-friendly features including roof-top solar water and photo voltaic panels which provide part of the hot water and electricity used, low energy appliances, low energy lighting, double glazing in most rooms, hardwood bamboo floors in the Mondriaan, eco-friendly cleaning and personal care products and some organic food products.

We know Amsterdam: Marnixkade Canalview Apartments are owned and operated by Eelco and Bruce, a Dutch American couple. We are long-time residents of Amsterdam, and have been renting apartments on the Marnixkade for the past 12 years. We live in the building where the apartments are located and have been restoring the apartments step-by-step since we moved here.

We love Amsterdam, and we love sharing this enthusiasm for our city with our guests. Meeting so many wonderful people from different cultures is what motivates us to do what we do and continue to enjoy it. We look forward to welcoming you.

A great week in Amsterdam

This was our first (and hopefully not our last) time we had visited Amsterdam. We stayed a week in the Marokko apartment and loved it. It was comfortable, convenient, and quiet. When we arrived there was a refrigerator with cheese, coldcuts, eggs, etc. and a snack basket with goodies. All of central Amsterdam was within walking distance and there were tram and bus lines half a block away. Bruce and Allen were very helpful answering any questions we had. We definitely will stay here again on our next visit.

Wonderful apartment in Amsterdam

We recently spent 4 nights in the Marnixcade Canalside apartments with our 2 teens. Our hosts, Bruce, Eelco, and Allen were great in providing us with good communication and instructions before our trip, and were there to greet us when we arrived. The apartment was bright and beautiful in a great location-within walking distance to the Anne Frank House and many great restaurants. The surrounding neighborhood was quiet and felt very safe. Our hosts also stocked the cupboard and refrigerator with breakfast items, snacks, beer and wine. Bruce took the time to visit with us and make many helpful recommendations to enhance our stay. He even searched train and church schedules for us. We were very fortunate to find such a nice place, and would definitely stay again!

Highly Recommended

Charming, spacious apartment, lots of light, period details. The stocked pantry and frig were fabulous - wine, beer, snacks, bread, meats, cheeses, eggs, OJ, milk etc. Wonderful location near tram, buses, parks, and Jordaan shops. The owner and staff went out of their way to help us solve some travel issues and were friendly and welcoming. "Check-in" was exceptionally easy and on our schedule, the best in our experience with vacation rentals. Plenty of space and storage.
Two points to be aware of: 1)the stairs to the apartment (2 levels) are narrow and steep. It was fine day-to-day for us, but carrying the luggage up and down was challenging. 2)the bed/bedding were OK, but not as wonderful as the rest of the place. However, those are details that wouldn't stop us from returning, and I hope we can! I would recommend it enthusiastically to friends/family.

great apartment

Our family of 4 was very happy we chose the Marokko apartment for our spring 2011 Amsterdam trip. The living room was spacious and attractive and had a nicely defined dining area on one end that worked great. The bedroom was quite large and had more than enough room for all our suitcases. I think the bed was the equivalent of an American king size.

I liked the kitchen; it was very nicely equipped with pans, strainers, cutting boards, etc. The food provided was the best of any apartment stay I've had -- bread, a half-dozen eggs, milk, butter, juice, cookies, several kinds of fruit, cheese, meat, etc. It was great to arrive and be able to make breakfast right away!

The bathroom was super-clean and quite high-end in its finishings.

We worked with Allen both before our departure and during our time in Amsterdam and found him pleasant and helpful. We really appreciated the flexibility that let us come in very early on our arrival day.

The street is, I think, all residential on this block but there was a nice little market around the corner. Otherwise it was only about a block to shops. We rented bikes for the duration of our stay from WorkCycles (they were super nice) one block over and always found room to lock them at the bike racks along the canal.

I'd very happily stay here again!

Best Decision

This was our first trip to Europe so we were a bit anxious about the unknown. After a few days at the apartment we realized what a great decision we had made staying here. The apartment is in a quiet neighborhood with the tram and bus stop a block away and across the canal. From there you are 10 minutes away from the art museums and the Leidensplein entertainment district or from Central Station. However most of our time was spent walking through the Amsterdam neighborhoods. Around the corner is Westerstraat with the everyday neighborhood shopping and cafes. On Saturday at the end of Westerstraat is the market filled with fresh produce, fresh breads, olives, cheeses and fresh seafood (we stood and ate fresh oysters) and for our home cooked meal that evening we had crab legs, fresh red tomatoes, mozerella and basil, olives and bread with a bottle of wine.
Off of Westerstraat is a narrow street filled with small quaint ethnic restaurants for other evening meals with some ice cream for the walk home. At the end of this street and across the canal is the Anne Frank Museum, a 10 minute walk from the apartment.
We found all of Amsterdam very safe and accesable by foot as we walked to the Dam, the Old Church, Red Light District and along all of the canals as we shopped.
The apartment supplied us with fresh fruit, wine, beer, snacks, meats and cheese, yogurt, eggs and cranola for breakfast.
We received a daily visit from the host to see how our day went, what we did and offered suggestions of what to see.
They also helped us find a clinic to help us with a brief illness.
I'd like to write a bad review so others do not find out about this gem, but guess it would not be fair to the hosts.
Travelers can not go wrong staying at this location - enjoy!!
