Unique, beautiful and spacious thatched villa with terrace and large pool set amongst the vineyards and wine-cellars of Badacsony Hill, with breathtaking views over the lake and its nature reserve area. Surrounded by an orchard, the house is luxuriously furnished, with sauna and all mod cons. Caretaker on site to keep pool clean and to help with every problem or wish. Wife can cook if necessary. World famous spa with medicinal waters (Heviz) only 10 kms away. Regular (3x/week) direct Ryanair flights to Balaton Airport - only half-an-hour from the house. Cheap car hire available at airport. Lovely walks, numerous restaurants and bars, watersports on lake, great resort towns nearby.

BHH is situated on the side of Badacsony, a volcanic (extinct!) hill in the middle of a large nature reserve area. The area is famous for its wine - the second best-known in Hungary after Tokaj. There are many vineyards around and on other volcanic hills, beautiful nature walks; and Lake Balaton, the biggest fresh-water lake in Europe, is like a jewel at the base of the hills. There are a large number of restaurants, lake-side beaches with watersports (no motorboat allowed on the lake!), resort towns with bars, castle, concerts, wine festivals, medicinal spas and health centres within very short distance.

Otherwise the climate is typically continental: hot summer, cold winter and milder in between - more pronounced seasons than in England.

Additional information about rental rates

  • Rental is £980 per week at peak season
    Rental is £900 per week at mid-season
  • A deposit of min £400/week is required to secure the booking dates. Payment in full should be made min. 1 month before the start of the holiday. To this final payment a breakage deposit of £200 will be added to cover any possible damage or loss. This will be returned (as a £cheque) by post - minus any necessary deductions - as soon as the house has been checked after departure.
    There is a scale of charges applied in the case of cancellation: £200 for 1 month or more;
    50% for 21 days - one month; payment is non-returnable in the last 3 weeks.
    A pool-cleaning fee of £50/week is also payable at the time of the final rental fee.

  • The bathroom in the cellar area has a large sauna attached. All bathrooms are fully tiled and luxuriously furnished.

  • The main bedroom has a large book-lined study and a small sitting area attached to it, and there is a small balcony overlooking the lake. The fourth bedroom is in the cellar area with a pull-out double bed with an adjoining bathroom and a large sauna as well. All bedrooms are large enough to accommodate cot beds (one is available!).

Notes: As the property has a thatched roof, we prefer non-smoking guests. There are some steps up to the house and then quite a few more up to the pool, so it is not suitable for those with impaired movement or in a wheelchair. Care should be taken on the steps and in and around the pool, especially with young children, as we do not accept responsibility for accidents while staying at the villa. Bedlinen is provided, and so are towels except for beach towels. Cleaning and change of bedlinen halfway through can be arranged for those staying for longer periods. The caretaker and his wife are happy to help with any queries, such as driving, eating and pool parties/BBQ. Cooking can also be arranged.

Superb place to be with excellent view on Balaton Lake from house and terrace with swimming pool! House has all you need for a perfect holiday. Badascony is a 'pearl' on Balaton Lake. We were there with two teenagers (14 and 18) who loved the pool and garden.

This was our first visit to Hungary and we just loved it. We choose to fly to Budapest first and took two days in that lovely city before hiring a car and driving to the Villa. There is now a motorway right down to the end of Lake Balaton (indeed, it goes right on to the Croatian border) and it will not be long before the last section of the Budapest ring road is finished. This will dramatically shorten the journey time from Budapest Airport giving wider travel options than into the small airport at FlyBalaton.
This is a lovely villa and the views across Lake Balaton are to die for. The area around Lake Balaton is just superb with great opportunities for sightseeing. The villa is excellent but do be aware that the pool is up a good way up the hill behind the villa - for sure it would not be suitable for anyone with a walking difficulty. The Villa is very well maintained, clean and comfortable and the service from the caretakers living nearby is second to none. We also sent a range of questions to Kati before our holiday and she unfailingly answered everything both in great detail and very promptly.
Don't miss the storks in the nearby villages; we were lucky unough to see two in the same nest.
We had a truly great holiday here and I have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone!

We had a fantastic holiday. Lake Balaton and the area were even more lovely than we had hoped, and we will certainly return. The house was lovely, clean and very well equipped. The views were breathtaking and we will remember all for a long time (Jim and Samantha Walsh)

Liebe Kati,
habe erst jetzt die Bewertungsmöglichkeit entdeckt, und hole hier natürlich nach, was wir bis jetzt versäumt haben.
Wäre das Wetter besser gewesen hätten wir, den bisher schönsten Urlaub überhaupt, in Ihrem Haus verbracht.
Das Haus ist traumhaft schön von der Aussicht ganz zu Schweigen. Außerdem war alles nötige vorhanden und es war sehr sauber!
Mit unseren 8 Personen hatten wir das erste Mal richtig Platz uns zu entfalten. Ihre Angabe das 4. Schlafzimmer wäre ein Kellerraum ist maßlos übertrieben, es war superschön und unsere Kinder haben sich darum gestritten. Souterrain wäre eher zutreffend.
Die beschwerliche und abenteuerliche Auffahrt wird durch den Wohlfühlfaktor 1000-mal wieder wettgemacht.
Auch die liebevolle Umsorgung von Lajos nebst Gattin, soll hier nicht zu kurz kommen.
Kurz gesagt für nachfolgende Gäste: ---sehr empfehlenswert---
