A sympathetically restored Country House ideal for family holidays. Our friends and guests enjoy excellent privacy in a secure and landscaped garden extending to around 4 acres. The swimming pool is 14mtrs x 6 mtrs with the latest technology water filters providing the best possible water quality for your use at any time. All bedrooms are climate controlled and the whole house has insect screens fitted to external windows. Water heating is provided by Solar Panels and there is back-up when necessary. The house is fully tiled and well furnished. There a 5 ensuite double/twin bedrooms, a large kitchen and dining room. There is a TV room, video and a good supply of books and games Our staff are friendly and helpful. Our Chef will prepare you favourite meals at times to suit. Your rooms will be cleaned daily and washing and ironing is all part of the holiday experience which aims to make sure you dont have to lift a finger. Please read our friends/guests reports.

Known as the garden of India, it is an enchanting mosaic of coconut groves and paddy fields, wide beaches and labyrinthine backwaters, hills and rainforest's. Temples and Festivals. Our house is in a rural village called Chalavara in the Palakkad District of Kerala. It is peaceful, unpolluted and a perfect place to relax and unwind. Enjoy the stillness and unique ambiance of the garden where you can see and enjoy the sounds of tropical songbirds or see the Kingfisher, Eagles and Owls. The local town is only 5km away and further afield there is the Arabian Sea, Wildlife sanctuaries, National Parks and Malampuzha Gardens which are laid out above a large irrigation dam. Pleasant boat trips and Mountain scenery. Kerala is tropical with monsoon rains in season which make it very green and fertile. Witness Bird Migration in Pannini in Mar, Apr and May.

  • You have exclusive use of our house, its grounds and its facilities. It is a unique environment, peaceful and clean with lovely clean country air pervading the house which is surrounded by landscape gardens, fruit trees, teak trees etc.

    Rates are fully inclusive. Its waiter service with all meals prepared for you by your personal Chef. No fixed meal times or fixed Menus - its your holiday so meals are made ready at the times you want them each day and we try our best to cater for all tastes. South Indian food is our speciality. All house services are included, even personal laundry and ironing. Daily room cleaning is organised around your daily activities and to your personal requirements. All arranged by our friendly House Manager. The house and its grounds are very secure and private.
    Guests enjoy exclusive use of the garden pool - the good size pool is cleaned and maintained on a daily basis ensuring crystal clear water from a natural source.
  • We now have a 7 seater people carrier with driver and this facility can be hired to take you shopping and site seeing at reasonable rates

    There is a computer at the house and the phone can be used for cheap calls back home by simply using phone cards which we supply to you at cost.

    There is a good level of security for personal items and we have a security safe in the Managers office.
  • For holiday guests staying 1 week or longer we require a booking deposit of £250, please with the balance due and payable at least 4 weeks prior to the start of your holiday.
    We are able to receive payment by cheque in most major currencies sent to our residential address in the UK or sent through International Banking Services Further details will be provided at time of enquiry/reservation.

  • The house has roomy walk-in en-suite shower rooms to each of its 5 bedrooms and there are 2 shower points by the pool for use before and after using the pool. The fully tiled en-suite rooms have modern stainless steel shower fittings and taps/mixer taps provide a good supply of hot and cold water. The original source of the bathing/washing water is from our spring fed garden well which automatically topsup the storage tank when necessary. the hot water supply is from solar which has an electrical back-up for emergencies. NB. Bottled water only is suitable for drinking and is available in the house at all times. Young children must be supervised in the shower areas and poolside and our staff will help whenever you want them to.

  • The house has 5 double/ twin en-suite bedrooms Two are at ground floor level and three at first floor level. All rooms are nicely furnished with cane and wood furnishings. All bedrooms have the facility of remote control climate control where you can regulate the temperature of your bedroom or the windows can be left open with ceiling fans to keep the rooms cool. All windows are insect proofed with a clear view netting. The bedrooms have tiled floors for coolness and decoration. All bedrooms have bedside tables, dressing mirror, stool, linen basket, wardrobe and handy size table. Extra storage areas are available in the rooms. All bedrooms have wood ceilings with ceiling fans and wall lights. A very comprehensive daily room service is provided. We are able to accommodate more people subject to prior negotiation.

The House and Services: The house is a spacious, cool and very private. Situated in about 4 acres of landscaped and tropical fruit garden in a rural setting. The area is blessed with a wide range of beautiful birds. There are wild peacocks which actually fly in and out of the paddy fields which are by the house. The migratory birds also stop and catch the fish from the garden pond and the Kingfishers and Herons are daily visitors. Eagles and Owls are also prevalent. There is a telephone and computer in the house which is available for your use when required and as far as I know your mobile phone will also work if it has the necessary international coverage. Phone cards are available to keep you in touch cheaply with home. Satellite TV and DVD is installed for your enjoyment. Your newspapers are delivered each day.

GUESTS SERVICES: For families/groups staying over 2 weeks with us and wanting to spend more time exploring the Indian Sub Continent - we will provide a free Onward Travel Booking Service in accordance with your requirements whilst you are enjoying your holiday with us. Colourful and spectacular festivals are prevalent throughout India and Kerala has many to enjoy. Getting there and back is never a problem and everything can be arranged for you to meet your exact requirements. We provide free transport in our own 7 seater air-conditioned vehicle for guests arrival and departure and the use of our vehicle with driver is available at reasonable rates at any time during your holiday with us. The house could be considered suitable for use by International Business clients. We have an open and straightforward terms and conditions policy (no small print) which is completed on arrival and e-mailed for information at time of the booking enquiry

Bird watching: Due west from the house is Pannani on the Arabian Sea. The tidal mouth of Bharathappuzha in Ponnani joins with another river and it is the seasonal home to hundreds of Migratory birds. Some 25 varieties of birds have been identified in this area. The months of March, April and May are reported to be the best time for Bird Watching Enthusiasts.

Beautiful Palakkad plantation house

I warmly recommend this very beautiful house and fabulous pool and garden. The staff looked after us superbly, there was an abundance of wildlife and we explored the surrounding area on foot and, further afield, by car. Lots of space, an immaculately and sensitively restored plantation house - and no other tourists. Wonderful for writing, reading, relaxing, exercising, and getting away from it all.

A wonderfully relaxing two weeks in a beautiful location. The staff were wonderful, nothing was too much. Certainly recommended to those wanting to see India and its people away from the tourist areas. Our group would all return given the opportunity. A big thank you to owners and their staff for making this such a memorable holiday!

Spacious, comfortable and very well appointed holiday home with large gardens and pool in peaceful location in rural Kerala. Helpful house staff to ensure you don't need to lift a finger throughout your stay. Close links and good contact with the local community permit a fascinating insight into real life off the normal tourist trail in India.

We're now missing the good time we spent in Kerala. We used the swimming pool a lot. The staff were all good and the Manager is very considerate. We walked around the villages - were invited into a wedding and had lunch there which we enjoyed a lot.
