Not my first trip to Kinsale (the gourmet capital of Ireland) but a first time in this apartment.A lovely welcome from Margie (the owner).Margie kept me updated on every aspect of the apartment leading up to the week we arrived. The maps, instructions to the apartment were easy to read and accurate. The apartment was clean, very welcoming and spacious.Everything we needed was in the apartment. The location of the apartment was excellent with the centre of Kinsale was just a few minutes away. Will certainly stay again. Thanks Margie.

The cheerful yellow door

Ann Roberta Orangevale, Ca., US
Review Submitted: November 15, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
The yellow door lets you into a cheerful apartment with the feeling and all the amenities that make this apartment a perfect home base from which to see Ireland. My husband and I spent three weeks in Ireland and this apartment in Kinsale was our home base. It is guiet and cozy and if you are tired after a day of sighseeing, and don't want to cook in the fully equipped kitchen, can go out to eat in any of a variety of great restaraunts in the seaside town.

The bus transportation into Cork is very reasonable and inexpensive. We rented a car in Cork to tour around Ireland and purchased roundtrip tickets from Kinsale to Cork at a very reasonable rate (and the the busses are right on time). It's great fun to take the busses and go through the small towns and really see the everyday Irish life.

The owners of the apartment, Margie and Alana, are not only a lot of fun, but a tremendous resourse of ideas. My husband and I cannot say enough about both the accommodations of the apartment and the sincere attention that the owners give to you.
Owner's Response: We aim to create a restful and easy place to come back to each evening after full days of touring and adventuring!

Discription matched reality

WisTraveler Milwaukee, WI
Review Submitted: November 20, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
In September my extended family and I went on a trip to several cities in Ireland. We really enjoyed our stay at the Kinsale apartment. It was well-maintained and the owner was very accommodating. The kitchen is well equipped with all of the basic cookware and some basic essential ingredients - which made it very easy for us to cook a family dinner one of the nights we were there. You would need a rental car to get to this location. We took the train down from Dublin to the cork airport (the closest train station) and picked up our rental cars. Since Kinsale is not in a very urban area you will need a car to get to most of the larger atractions, but it is a good base location. The next time any of us are in the area we will try and stay at the Kinsale apartment again. It was perfect for a family on vacation together.
Owner's Response: To tour West Cork a car is needed. For time in Kinsale most visitors park in the carpark next to the apartment until they journey out of town. We are always pleased when visitors make themselves at home and cook meals and enjoy lounging in the apartment between touring the area.

Hospitality Plus

Hedgehoppers Wheat Ridge, CO, USA
Review Submitted: March 24, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2007
We give the owners of this apartment an A + for hospitality and helpfulness during our 2 week stay in October of 2006. We liked being close to the village and particularly enjoyed the Walking Tour of Kinsale - a not to be missed experience. While we stayed in on some rainier days, cooked and enjoyed videos available in the apartment, we also liked the fact that we could roll our suitcases down to the local bus stop and head out of town to view the countryside above the hedges. For those of us who are intimidated by driving on the left side of the road, this was a good way to head to Galway, Dublin and back through Cork to Kinsale. The public transportation of Ireland gave us more unique experiences to treasure.
Owner's Response: It is great to see that visitors without automobiles are able to enjoy their time in Kinsale and travel to other parts of County Cork and Ireland.

A Perfect Retreat in the City

The Traveling Poof Denver CO USA
Review Submitted: March 19, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
We Denverites seem to love this apartment and place - community sharing of great destinations is good advertising!! We were there for the Kinsale Cuisine Festival. Such a fantastic experience - Irish food, dancing, & community - Delish in all respects! I love the harbor and having everything within walking distance. The apartment was spacious for two and more, well stocked and with good instructions for using 'Irish appliances'. The Hosts are charming.
