This beautiful stone cottage is surrounded by a large private garden, with direct access to the beach and offering wonderful views over Dunmanus Bay and the Sheeps Head Peninsula. The wild beauty of the surrounding countryside is good for many outdoor pursuits including, walking, cycling, fishing, golf, horse riding, sailing and kayaking. The village of Durras is five minutes by car and has a well stocked supermarket, restaurant and pubs. The Good Things Cafe, awarded a Michelin Star 2008 is five minutes by car and, out of season, offers regular cookery classes. The location is also well placed to access Bantry, Schull, Ballydehob, Balltimore, and Glengariff all of which have many excellent pubs and gourmet restaurants. The cottage is furnished and equipped to a high standard and can sleep up to eleven people, plus a baby or two, making it ideal for two families. One bedroom is located on the ground floor with en-suite bathroom making it suitable for disabled or elderly people.

Gloriously situated in a small quiet cove on the Sheep’s Head peninsula, and just 20 yards from the beach, this exceptionally fine and spacious modern cottage boasts a conservatory overlooking Dunmanus Bay. Blessed with a famously mild climate, peaceful unspoilt and often described as the most beautiful landscape in Ireland, the peninsula’s contrasting rugged cliffs and lush pasture make very good walking country—the Sheep’s Head Way in particular crosses a variety of terrains, all affording stunning views. At the head of Bantry Bay, and set against a spectacular mountainous backdrop, the picturesque harbour town of Bantry (14 miles) and magnificent Bantry House are well worth exploring. Shop and pub 1½ miles, Durrus 8 miles. The Blarney Stone and Cork Airport are 65 miles. Cork Ferry Terminal is 75 miles.

Our stay at this cottage was truly wonderful. The house is cosy with everything you could possibly need. The sea and beach are just a stones throw away. The most wonderful thing was the total silence and tranquillity, the only sound that we woke to was birdsong.
Although secluded we were able to visit many places, including Bantry and had a fabulous meal at O'Connors which comes highly recommended.
All in all, the cottage gets full marks and we'll definately be back next year.
