Magnificent Holiday Cottage

JJMM Dublin
Review Submitted: April 24, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
Dunmanus Pier is a magnificent holiday cottage suitable for families even those with young children. Enjoying a superb waterside location and equiped with every appliance that could be needed, you will have a great time and probably look to book again as soon as possible. Highly recommended.

Perfect location, but beware of the bills!!

This is a fantastic cottage, equipped to a high standard, and in a stunning location. The views are magnificent; this is a truly unspoilt bit of wildest Ireland, with some wild winds and weather to prove this also!! We went to get away from the city and from work, and couldn't have wished for more from the place. It's a 10-15 minute drive from Schull, which has pretty much all the amenities needed for a short stay (including a fantastic organic / health food shop, very unexpected for such a small town!) Drives and walks arounf the Mizen Head peninsula, Sheeps Head and the ring of Beara are all well worth the road miles. The only slight disappointment was a very high oil and electricity bill of over 100 Euros for the week. The cottage has a very dated oil central heating boiler - this broke down briefly on our first evening, but Sabine arranged for two chaps to fix it that evening quickly and efficiently (more remarkable when you consider this was the same evening that Ireland had just won the 6 Nations grand slam, and everyone was celebrating!!). This, however, shouldn't put you off this wonderful cottage at all.

Dunmanus pier cottage

Review Submitted: March 2, 2009 Date of Stay: February 2009
Fabulous peaceful location on waters edge just as depicted on the web site. Cottage beautifully presented, very well kitted out with great wood burning stove. (our stay was in the winter, so stove was very welcome). Great walking on Sheeps Head Peninsula. Good pubs in Schull, Durrus and Ballydehob. We had a great meal in Annies - bit pricey but well worth it , food and service fantastic. A car is a must to get the most out of this beautiful location. Looking forward to returning to Dunmanus pier next year.

Dunmanus cottage

Review Submitted: October 13, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
Dunmanus cottage is beautifully quiet with splendid and continually changing views. It is ideal for a young family of mother, father and two children. The sea is at the bottom of the garden. The children can swim and catch crabs to their hearts content. The large lawn is wonderful for playing games or simply lying there! Walking in the country lanes or out on the rocky headland is a continual delight.
The cottage is a home from home in a wonderful environment.
The owners keep it in splendid condition and are always quickly helpful if there are problems - 'the lobster we have is too big for the boiling pot available', for example. The cooking facilities are first class with all 'mod coms'. I would have no hesitation in recommending the cottage to a friend.
Within a few miles there are great pubs and restaurants if domesticity palls. For those seeking rural solitude and peace of mind Dunmanus cottage could not be bettered

Lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings

SAMGM Dublin, Ireland
Review Submitted: May 27, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
Lovely cottage - very nicely furnished and high spec fit out. Beautiful situation beside pier with big garden. We were very lucky with the weather which helped, as it is quite a remote location. We had two small children ( 2 and 4) with us and they loved the holiday and the cottage, although we had to make sure we watched them carefully outside as garden is not fenced off and leads to pier on one side and sea on the other. The surrounding area is beautiful and unspoilt and we found Schull great for shopping and eating out.
