This beautiful cottage is set in a stunning location with views all around to the 12 Bens Mountains and onto the Owenglen River. It is situated on three hundred acres of mountain yet is only two miles from Clifden town which has a great range of shops and restaurants. The Old Fishing Lodge is a spacious cottage with a lovely old style sitting/dining room with open fire. This leads to the well-equipped kitchen and out to a walled in patio area. There are two bedrooms and bathroom downstairs and a third bedroom and bathroom upstairs that are accessed by a spiral staircase. All rooms are decorated and maintained to a very high standard. Including spa bath, ideal to relax after a days hillwalking. The local area has a lot to offer from white sandy beaches, sailing, fishing, golf, hill walking and a variety of visitor attractions all within a couple of mile radius of the cottage. The cottage is a great place to relax and enjoy the surrounding scenery.

The Old Fishing Lodge is in scenic Connemara. The property has stunning views onto the 12 Bens Mountains which can be easily walked from the cottage. The Owenglen River which is overlooked by cottage is a great fishing river , a short walk from house. The cottage is situated on several hundred acres of private mountain land which you are free to roam. This is the most scenic part of beautiful Connemara. There are some lovely beaches near the house towards Ballyconnelly and Cleggan. Clifden 'the capital of Connemara' is only two miles away. Clifden has a variety of good restaurants offering great seafood and lively pubs where the best of Irish traditional music can be heard. There is a good 18 hole golf course near-by in Ballyconnelly. There is a sailing and water sports center in Clifden as well deep-sea fishing. A diving centre and adventure centre are within 10 miles of cottage.

Guest Book: ' reluctant to leave the beautiful quiet and the vistas that look like a romantic painting come to life. We've become fond of the sheep (though we suspect they are indifferent to us). Fabulous getaway!

This cottage was a wonderful place for our group of 4 women to stay to explore the local area. We hiked right from the front door to the local waterfall, visited the local pubs for Irish music and good food, sat by the fire and really enjoyed the beautiful coutryside (and sheep) right outside each window and door! Would be nice to have a car but local taxis are available.
