This newly built cottage is in the village of Ballinskelligs which is in the tourist region of south Kerry. It is within 1 hour by car from Kerry International airport and within 1 hour of the major tourist town of Killarney. Major tourist attractions in the area are the world famous Waterville Golf course, Derrynane National Park, Skellig Island Monastic Site, which can be reached by boat from the village harbour, Valentia Isalnd and the Ring of Kerry Tourist Route. Area has a wide array of beautiful cleann and unspolit beaches with outdoor activities such as surfing, windsurfing, fishing, diving, hillwalking, horse riding. There is a local post office and petrol station in the village as well as a pub/restaurant which provides traditional Irish entertainment at weekends. The nearest town with supermarkets, shops etc is Cahirsiveen which is 12km away. Property can be reached by UK from ferry to Cork which is 2 hours by car.

Family friendly cottage near lovely beach

This is a well maintained, family friendly cottage near the wonderful beach at Ballinskelligs. The beach is no more than a few minutes walk and is lovely for walking on. The views are spectacular. The cottage is quiet, warm and has all the basic essentials needed. It has a very well maintained garden and a nice picnic table in the back. Beach and garden chairs are provided. The kitchen, utility room and bathrooms are all well equiped. The large table in the kitchen is great for entertaining up to 8 people.

It is one of 5 cottages on the development. Two of the cottages are still under construction and the other 2 are also used as rental properties. This property is more geared towards youger families than the other two finished cottages (decor and amenities).

The surrounding countryside is very tranquil. There are a few nice pubs within walking distance, along with some stunning golf courses, scenic drives and art gallery near by.

The whole process of booking the cottage (communications, payment and instructions went very smoothly). The owner was very pleasant to deal with.

I would definitely recommmend this property to a friend and return myself - but there is just one or two additional "touches" that are required. The window coverings (curtains and net) are all sheer and need to be improved in all of the bedrooms. Two bedrooms have no window covering on the velux windows so one is easily woken at the first break of dawn.

Other than that - everything else was just perfect.

This was our fifth trip to Ireland and by far the best! The cottage is new and contains all the amenities one needs to thoroughly enjoy a great vacation. The surroundings are fantastic, Mother Nature surely used her magic wand, here. Walks on the beach, a 15 minute trip by car to one of Charlie Chaplin's favorite places, Waterville, or a 10 minute ride to Portmagee, where, for the more adventurous, an excursion by boat takes you to the Skellig islands.
Not to forget the proximity to "The Ring of Kerry", which takes you through one of the most beautiful scenery on our planet. For the culinary aficionado, especially when it comes to seafood, close-by restaurants leave absolutely nothing to be desired.

We'll be back next year!
