Notes: Garrykennedy Cottage dates back to 1782. It is a unique olde world property located in a beautiful lakeside village. The cottage has been completely renovated and today incorporates the original old cottage and the attached coach house. It is quite spacious extending to over 2000 square feet. There is a beautiful private terraced garden with patio at the rear of the Cottage. The cottage has four double bedrooms each with a queen size double bed (each sleeping 2 persons). One bedroom is downstairs. The other 3, including the master en suite bedroom, are upstairs. The cottage has 3 bathrooms (all upstairs). Two have large showers with modern electric power shower fittings. The other has a full bath. The cottage has a fully equipped modern kitchen, a bright sun room/ dining room looking out on the back garden and 2 spacious sitting rooms with large comfortable sofas and club chairs. One sitting room has a large stone fireplace, the other has a wood burning

History of the Village of Garrykennedy: Garrykennedy is one of Ireland's most beautiful villages. The history of the village dates back to 1450 when the village was the stronghold of the O’Kennedy clan. The ruins of their castle on the lake shore remains the centrepiece of the village today. The old stone Quay in the village was built in the late 1700's (extended in 1829) using stone from the old castle.

Things to do in Village of Garrykennedy: The cottage is located in the middle of the tiny lakeside village of Garrykennedy , Co. Tipperary. The village has approximately 10 other properties (including 2 musical pubs and restaurant). Larkins Pub and family style Restaurant (3 doors down from the cottage) recently featured in the Michelin Eating out in Pubs guide. It is one of only 16 Irish pubs that appear in the book's 550 best dining pubs in Britain and Ireland. Great food and friendly service. Great live traditional Irish music in the pub. Enjoy relaxing lakeside forest walks, boating, fishing for Pike and Trout, sailing, golfing, swimming and outdoor activities. You can't beat the Irish Traditional Music scene in the village, Great Pubs and Restaurants, Culture & Castles.

Our stay at the cottage was story book material ! It exceeded our expectations in every category. We had sunny weather every other day during our stay. The lake was simply picturesque. Larkin's Pub was beyond friendly. The cottage was extremely comfortable and equipped for our every need. We have already starting planning our next trip there. We absolutely loved Garrykennedy Cottage. The location was great and cottage has lots of character. Prices were very reasonable. I'm a clean freak, and the cottage was very clean! GerryKennedy Cottage is located in a quaint little village on the shores of Loch Derg. This cottage is one of the few places we have rented from online photos and description that the actual home far exceeded the website description. The cottage,built in the 1700's, still reflects its history yet it has been magnificently updated to provide every possible modern amenity We were a family of five who rented this particular home primarily because of its proximity to family in Nenagh. We had plenty of room to relax and have quiet space and to entertain and visit with family. The gardens are lovely and provided views of the lake and the old castle while still being very private. The owner was very helpful both while planning our trip and during our stay. The village hosts two pubs and plenty of friendly people that made us feel welcome. We enjoyed their stories and music. There is a store within walking distance for the quick necessities of milk, bread etc. There were very nice stores in Nenagh (6 miles). While the cottage is ideally located to the major 'must see' attractions of Ireland what made this place special was that for a week we weren't tourists visiting Ireland we were experiencing Ireland first hand.
Recommended for:  Romantic Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children, Age 55+, Families with Teenagers
