Beaches, Sailing, and Fishing:
Kinsale offers chartered sailing tours from the marina directly across the harbour and tours of the harbour daily on a cruise boat. There are also chartered fishing tours from the harbour as well.
There are several Blue Flag beaches within a 15 minute drive including the ocean beach at Garretstown and the protected beach next to James Fort in the Harbour. In addition, there is a world class wind surfing and water sports centre nearby in Oyster haven.
Horse Riding and Walking Tours:
There are trekking tours and horse riding activities nearby and Kinsale itself is a walkers delight. There are guided walking tours daily and evening 'ghost tours' for the adventurous. Desmond Castle has a long history as a prison as well as serving as a museum of Kinsale's long history in the Wine trade with Portugal and France. The Scilly Harbour Walk passes below and is accessed by a set of stairs from the property to the harbour level. This walk runs from town to the hamlet of Summer Cove and provides great viewing of the harbour and natural beauty of the area.
Old Head of Kinsale and Surroundings:
The Old Head is now a private golf course and closed for walking but you can drive to the front gates and view the beauty of the headland and the surrounding dramatic cliffs and sea. Regardless of the weather, there is always something to see.
Golf:
The Old Head of Kinsale is among the most beautiful in the world and most often compared to Pebble Beach in California. In addition, there are two public courses within a 5 minute drive - one of 9 holes and one of 18. There are also up to 6 other courses open to the public within a 30 minute drive.
