Lisheen Castle is a beautifully restored 18c limestone building set in a wonderful rural location with great views of the Irish countryside. The castle is centrally located for visiting places of interest from Dublin to Cork and from Limerick in the west to Wexford in the east. In addition to the eight bedrooms there are three recreational rooms all with open fires, one old world dining kitchen with aga and an adjoining commercial kitchen. There is full oil fired central heating throughout the building. The castle is set in its own private grounds and gardens 300 mtrs from the public road and is easily accessed from Dublin, Cork and Shannon airports (journey time 2 hours)

Lisheen castle is ideally located in the midlands county of Tipperary allowing its residents to travel freely on day trips to all the major cities and tourist attractions of Ireland. The castle stands in a quiet rural area ten minutes from the local town of Thurles and five minutes from the local village of Moyne. The area is dotted with medieval castles and water powered corn mills from a bygone age. There is a rich culture of traditional Irish music available in the local pubs on designated evenings during the week. When you stay in Lisheen Castle, you will be able to spend your time exploring the many historical sights such as Holy Cross Abbey or the world famous Rock of Cashel. There are many excellent golf courses within one hours drive of Lisheen Castle. Thurles Golf Club is a magnificent 18 hole parkland course, only a few minutes away. The river Suir which flows through County Tipperary, offers many hours of pleasure for visitors who enjoy angling.

Transport: Our local railway station in Thurles town has 28 trains stopping there each day. Taxis are readily available in the immediate area. Guest staying at the castle need a car or mini bus.

Places of interest: A train journey to Dublin, a very pleasant trip to visit trinity college, Christ’s Church Cathedral, Guinness hop store etc. In the local area, Holy cross abbey the historic rock of Cashel and Cahir town. A drive over the v mountain in South Tipperary and down into Lismore and along the Blackwater to the Cappaquin is a very scenic drive. The city of Waterford where the world famous Waterford glass in manufactured is approx 50 miles from the castle. The Georgian town of Birr with its castle and wonderful gardens is well worth a visit Cruisers are available for hire on the river Shannon (35 miles).

Day trips: Cliffs of Moher, Bunratty castle and folk park (1 and a half to two hour trip) Bunratty castle and folk park near Shannon airport. Blarney /2 hour trip Killarney /2 hour trip.

Golf: Thurles town has an excellent 18 hole course(7Miles) Dundrum golf and country club is approx 20 miles from the castle. World famous Mount Juliet golf and country club is adjacent to the historical city of Kilkenny(27 miles).

Other Activities: Horse/greyhound racing. Football and Hurling our national Sport.
