Welcome to Suaimhneas your holiday cottage. The name Suaimhneas is Gaelic for tranquillity and here you will enjoy the tranquillity and unspoilt natural beauty of West Cork. The cottage contains three bedrooms, master bedroom ensuite, sitting-room with open stone fireplace and fully equipped kitchen cum dining-room. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and furnished to a high standard. The interiors are finished in natural wood which creates a warm welcoming atmosphere. Combining the best of both worlds it has every modern convenience and all the romantic appeal of a traditional cottage. It is situated on its own private enclosed grounds which provide ample parking, safe playground for children and secluded area to relax and sunbathe or enjoy an open air picnic and view the scenic countryside. Suaimhneas is located 1km from the village of Ballylickey which is nestling on the edge of beautiful Bantry Bay with the backdrop of the Caha Mountain Range. Here there are hotels, award winning restaurants and pubs, supermarkets, and it is on the bus route. There are several little bays and inlets where you can swim and fish. The cottage is 7km from the maritime heritage town of Bantry, one of the principal towns of the lovely south west coast of Ireland. The mild climate that is enjoyed here is due to the presence of the Gulf Stream. Glengarriff is 12km away and is the gateway for touring both the Beara peninsula and the Ring of Kerry. Kenmare 36km and Killarney 72km. A visit to Glengarriff would not be complete without a trip to Garnish Island with its renowned Italian Gardens. Salmon and trout fishing can be enjoyed on the Coomhola and Ouvane Rivers and Lake Lough Bofinne.Also sea fishing on Bantry Bay. Walkers can experience The Sheep's Head Walk; The Beara Way: Nature trails in Glengarriff Natural Woods or Gougane Barra National Park. Hill walking on the Caha Mountains. Directions to SUAIMHNEAS
Follow the N71 out of Cork City to Bandon then take the R586 until you join the N71 again before reaching Bantry. Continue on to Ballylickey Bridge crossroads where you take the road signposted Coomhola Church uphill from main road.
