Sonas holiday cottage is situated in the village of Fanore which is in the heart of one of Ireland’s greatest natural glory, The Burren. A green road walking route, The Burren Way, which begins in Ballyvaughan, twists its way past historic sites, areas of outstanding beauty passing by the house to finish in Lahinch, which boasts a world-class golf course and some of the country’s best surfing. Sonas is in the perfect location for touring the West of Ireland and the Shannon region, perhaps taking a ferry from Doolin, the spiritual home of traditional music in Ireland to visit the Aran Islands.

Fantastic getaway on beautiful Burren

OH's Leeds
Review Submitted: July 29, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
I stayed in this property in July 2009 with my family that consists of myself and my wife and three children aged 4, 2 and 4 months. This property and the Fanore area is ideal for anyone with a young family. Within walking distance is a shop/post office, restaurant and family friendly pub. Two minutes in the car gets you to a fantastic sandy beach. The beach is easily accessed from the free car park which has a toilet, shower and has a life guard patrol. The property is comfortable and has everything you need with great views of the sea and Galway bay. There are two fire places, a TV, DVD and CD player, dish washer and washing machine/dryer - there's even an interesting selction of CD's to keep you entertained. Electricity is paid for via a metre (2 euros), it is very reasonable and seemed to be good value. We were made to feel welcome by the local representative and the friendlly neighbours. The surronding area is beautiful - the drive along the coast road from Ballyvaughan to Fanore is breathtaking. There is loads to do which is easily accessible via car in Co Clare and Co Galway - although we spent alot of our time in the local beach. We had a fantastic holiday and our only regret was that we could not stay longer.

Excellent Getaway!

Paige & Mark Huntsville, Alabama
Review Submitted: November 29, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
My husband and I stayed a week here in September and had a wonderful time. John and Anna, the owner's, could not have been more accommodating (thank you so much for going above and beyond) and were so patient with a such a pain of a Yank! Eileen, the caretaker, was so friendly and helpful and truly respected our privacy! We may not stay here when we come back (only because we didn't get to see other parts of Ireland) but we definitely recommend Sonas to anyone wanting a clean, comfortable, quiet, quaint and friendly place with a beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean and the Aran Islands. Be sure to see the Cliffs of Moher from above and below and eat seafood chowder everywhere you go!

Heaven probably looks something like Fanore, Clare

Sars Newport Beach, Ca USA
Review Submitted: November 13, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
The property has an ocean view and is set against the Byrne. The location is also walking distance from a pub (great food), post office and a general store. The property's caretaker also works at the local store, so she is accessible, accommodating and helpful. My family and I found the beach bungalow to be clean and modern, and we especially liked the quality of the bed linens. The only inconvenience (and its not really an inconvenience) was that my 73 year old father did not like having to climb the stairs everytime he had to use the bathroom, but it did not bother myself or my mother. The attractions in the surrounding area are well worth seeing, and if you have time take the ferry to the largest of the Aran Islands. Once you arrive do not take the donkey and cart tour instead jump in a van; you will see much more of the Island and in comfort. Definitely do the climb up to the fort of Dun Aengus, the Irish version of Peru's Machu Picchu.
I highly reccommend this property, and we will definitely stay at this charming beach house again.
