Photos and Description of this County Donegal holiday house 4 bedroom house, 2 bathrooms, 1 shower room, sleeps a maximum of 10

The Old Sawmill at Lough Eske (formerly part of the Lough Eske Castle Estate) was saved from dereliction in 2001 to form a welcoming, comfortable 4 bedroom home. It is set in the countryside near the beautiful Blue Stack Mountains and within walking distance of the 5 star Solis Lough Eske Castle and Harveys Point Hotel yet only 3 miles from Donegal Town and 7 miles from the world class Murvagh Golf Course. The Mill is full of character - it dates from the 17th Century and has been sympathetically modernised to include all home comforts. There are large roll-top baths, solid fuel stoves in the lounge and main bedroom and it is the perfect place to return to at the end of an active day walking, golfing or fishing. Alternatively it is a great place just to relax, unwind and do nothing at all! There is a large flagstone patio at the front, a balcony to the second bedroom and timber-decking next to the kitchen giving access to the mill's private woodland area with views of Lough Eske.

Notes: The Old Sawmill is the perfect base for exploring the wild and rugged North West of Ireland or for simply relaxing in. The accommodation lends itself to two families or a group of friends sharing. The Mill is warm and cosy with under-floor heating throughout. The layout downstairs is open-plan and sociable with the kitchen, dining and lounge areas occupying the whole of the groundfloor of the original Sawmill building and with a galleried area giving a full-height view to the roof timbers! The downstairs bedroom, shower room/toilet, utility room complete with washing machine and tumble-drier and lobby area are situated up a few steps from the lounge/kitchen. It is our much-loved and regularly visited second home and consequently is very well-equipped and has a range of DVDs,videos,CDs and books which you are welcome to use and enjoy. We are keen cooks so the kitchen has more equipment than the average holiday home as well as lots of cook books should inspiration be needed!

Fantastic!

A group of friends and I spent last weekend at the Old Saw Mill while we attended a wedding in the nearby Solis Lough Eske Hotel. We absolutely fell in love with this house. Beautiful wooden beams, lots of windows and quirky items decorating the walls made this a house to relax in. The homely feel to the house made it obvious that this is a house cherished by the family that own it, who generously open it up to allow visitors to experience a little bit of the Old Saw Mill magic! Spacious, with ample numbers of beds and showers make this house is perfect for families or groups of friends. The hidden forest space at the side of the house complete with tree house, slide and children’s swing only served to make my group jealous we weren’t young enough to play there! The photos barely do the house justice, and certainly the proximity to the Solis Hotel should be highlighted – literally across the road from the hotel carpark, yet snuggled into the forest. Within hours of arriving we all spoke about how we should come back for a long weekend, so here’s hoping we’ll be back again soon.

A fabulous base in beautiful surroundings

A group of us were attending a wedding in the Solis Lough Eske Castle Hotel. I couldn't believe my luck when I came across the Sawmill on the web and it more than lived up to our expectations. Situated on the edge of the woods a few minutes walk from the castle and a few more from Harveys Point this property is a real find. It has been sympathetically converted into a wonderful home with every modern comfort. The spacious accomodation really lends itself to a family or group of friends who just want to chill out together. the wood burning stoves, Aga and claw foot baths all add to the experience. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Sawmill and hope to return before too long.

Fanastic place, we were attending our niece's wedding in Harvey Point on the 13/9/08, we were so impressed that we had to "show off" the Sawmills the next day. The other guests were very jealous. Perfect in every way, spacious, clean and well located. Get for families. Will go again. Owners lovely and very helpfull

The Perfect Holiday Getaway

Review Submitted: July 18, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
A group of us aged 21 - 32 stayed here whilst attending a family wedding in nearby Harveys Point & had an absolute ball!! Other guests at the wedding who were staying in the Hotel & other B&B's locally were so jealous when they came to visit us - our lovely accomodation was the talk of the wedding! The website photos do not do this property any justice, it is so much more in reality. We loved it so much & have told all of our friends about it, so much so we're trying to organise another visit next year. The owners, who we only contacted by email, were so helpful & lovely, we are so grateful they allowed us the pleasure of staying in their much loved holiday home.
