A geniune country experience!

Marcy G Livermore, CA, USA
Review Submitted: September 10, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We were lucky to find such an authentic experience with lodging that fulfilled all our needs at such an affordable price.  The property was clean and well maintained, with laundry facilities and a perfect kitchen for cooking in or packing a lunch, which really cut down on the money we spent on meals.  This property is in the country, very rural, but also very close to so much to do in the Conemara area.  We stayed a week and could have easily stayed longer.  We gained a sense of familiarity with the countryside, got to know our way around and meet some very interesting locals when we were in need of directions!Because of the location, we didn't venture out too much at night (but we don't really at home either).  In exchage, we were rewarded with some awesome walks along the rugged coast, past countless rock walls that were constructed by who knows whom and when,  leaving much to the wonder of the whole experience.  Not to mention black faced sheep on the narrow (easily travelled) roads, and green green green landscape (July 1-8, 2009).As a proprietor, Ms. Riona Connoly Green was very professional, helpful, and thorough.  I was at first nervous about wiring money to someone on line who I did not know, but I took the chance and I must say it worked out very well.  We had a wonderful trip.

Just a wonderful holiday!

MarcelandKiki Kiel, Germany
Review Submitted: September 6, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
we are a couple from north of germany and wanted to spent our holidays in the rough and beautiful ireland. on the internet we found
riona connellys offer. the price was good and the pictures promised a nice landscape around our appartment. it did not promise too much!
we rent a car at the airport otherwise you cannot get in this lonely region. but our navigation did a good job and riona helped us a lot, too.
what we found was much more better than we had thought!! riona welcomed us very friendly and showed us our cosy little appertment with a big bed and an oven in the living room. very tidy and nicely arranged furniture let us feel like home and better. one step out of
our appertment (10 metres) we were at the sea. the rough coast with its beautiful sight over the grassland filled with stones was just pure nature for us. the house is settled in a cute small haven and when the sun shines on to the water it was just wonderful.
with our small little car we made a lot of day trips to near and far sights worth seeing.riona gave us a lot of information what we need to see and where we could go on trips. we had 6 sunny days, but a rainy day could not stop us. we travelled along the coast up to clifden, through the mountains of the national park up to the aasleagh falls
which are little but beautiful falls. we also went to the cliffs of moher which was really a hightlight of our trip.
and everyday we could fall in our big comfortable bed. the kitchen was also nice for cooking. you have to think precisely what you need from the supermarket and when your car needs oil. but thats a small price if you want to see real beautiful irish nature. the best was that our appartment was directly at the coast with its beautiful sight and the
lonelyness. that was just what we needed to cure ourselves from all the stress at home and spent a realxing time. we still sap our
energy from our memories of the trip. we had 8 wonderful uncomplicated days in ireland and we plan to come back exactly there. in rionas nice little place. and watch out the sheep! they love to walk, eat and sleep on the streets and they really do not care
if you want to drive there :)

A Wonderful Holiday

J. M. Fleming Island, Florida
Review Submitted: August 25, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
Our stay in Sonas-Bru na Mara was simply stated, terrific. Rionna was a superb hostess who assisted us, above and beyond, our expectations at every turn. This cosy apartment was very comfortable and met the needs of two people, for both space and utility, very nicely. The rural, tranquil setting of Carna and the surrounding area was absolutely delightful. We traveled extensively around the area to virtually all the towns, villages and attractions without difficulty and found it very convenient. Although in a rural area there was no difficulty in finding wonderful eating establishments via automobile. This was a terrific visit to "Gaeltacht Ireland" and its' cultural heritage made all the more sucessful by our wonderful accommodations. We would most enthusiastically recommend Bru na Mara to others. Jack & Carol

Bru Na Mara

Review Submitted: July 26, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
We are about to embark on our third visit to Bru Na Mara and can honest'ly say that it is the most relaxing holiday haven you could wish to find. All of the accomodation is very well set out decorated to a high standard and very very home'ly and comfortable. Riona is the perfect hostess with a wonderful knowledge of the local area nothing is to much trouble and you are greeted with a welcome pack on your arrival which is much appreciated. The area around the accomodation is wonderful for all types of outdoor pursuits walking, fishing, there is a jetty by the house you can fish off, sailing etc and the scenery is breathtaking. The property would not be sutiable if you did not have transport as it is located quite a way from Carna village and the main road .The restaurants in the village offer a wide variety of food from the basic to a la carte so there is something for everyone, the village has a good selection of shops and post office plus pub so all are catered for, the petrol stations are far and few between but there is one just outside the village, Bru Na Mara is really one of the little gems that you come across by accident but it is one that you will want to keep revisiting over and over again, we would have on hesitation in recommending this haven to anyone who loves the countryside and nature at its best plus the bonus of excellent accomodation of a high standard thrown in Theresa & John

A wonderful place to stay!

Brian and Amanda Charlotte, North Carolina, USA
Review Submitted: June 19, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We came to stay here for three nights on our honeymoon. We were too young to rent a car, so we had to rely on public transportation and taxis to get around, but we were still able to arrive without any complications. It was a wonderful, relaxing time for us. We went on some very beautiful walks. Riona (the owner) was excellent. She gave us an incredibly warm welcome, as well as a bottle of wine and basic food supplies. We were able to do some laundry as well. She also recommended some beautiful walks for us to take. This is the perfect place to go for some peace and relaxation, as well as some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Our only regret is not staying longer.
