You pass the exits for Mullingar and you see Lough Owel on your left. A mile past there, you will see the sign post for Multyfarnham. There is a right hand turn, (at the Covert Pub), take it and keep left at the little round about. Less than 2 miles from there is Multyfarnham. When you enter the Village, Weirs Pub is in front of you. Our bordering counties are Meath, Cavan, Longford, Roscommon, Offaly and Kildare. The area is very scenic and has plenty to offer. In our village there is a Franscian Friary dating back to the 11th century, the oldest working Franscian Friary in the world. Wheather you want to relax or have historical interests, want to go fishing or golfing, this area is ideally situated. june stay at Weirs

Niskybabe Schenectady, NY, USA
Review Submitted: July 14, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
Denis and I had a wonderful time at the Weirs. They were very welcoming, helpful and made us feel like we never wanted to leave. The accomodations were very good, the location perfect for touring around and the village was ideal for a visit to Ireland. We loved being able to get to know some of the locals and enjoyed listening to the impromptu singing in the Pub. The food in the restaurant was top of the line. I would recommend them to everyone.
Owner's Response: Mary & Denis, thank you for your kind review, you are welcome to stay anytime you visit Ireland, I will pass on your message to our Chef and we hope to see you back again next year.

Cozy cottage

Marilyn and Steve Largo, FL USA
Review Submitted: May 26, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
Our week in the cottage was the highlight of our trip. The pictures don't do it justice. It is an extremely charming and cozy place to stay. the location is ideal for touring the midlands of Ireland. The Rock of Cashel, Clonmacnoise and Trim Castle along with many other sites are an easy day trip away. Multifarnham is a quiet country village with beautiful scenic views wherever you look.
The cottage itself is well equipped, (loved the towels), and only a few steps from a fantastic pub and restaurant. The food is ever so good, the best sirloin I've ever had, and the hospitality and warmth of Pat and Una are even better. They make you feel at home from the start and are extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Thanks to Pat's help and guidance we were able to go places we would never have found using a guide book.
My only fear is that too many people will discover this fantastic spot and it won't be available for our next trip to Ireland.
I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to get away from the bigger cities and enjoy the peace and tranquility of rural Ireland,

A Beautiful Converted Barn in a Beautiful Village

AnturCynhyrfus Cardiff, UK
Review Submitted: December 3, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
We stayed here for a week using it as a base, it was very easy to find, just off the main road. It is a beautiful converted barn that is very spacious and clean and has everything you would need, even down to reading material, local guides and towels. The pub (which is right in front of the barn) offers first rate food and drink and the hospitality was excellent. The hosts, Pat and Una, were always willing to help in any way they could. The train station is a short drive away (about 5 miles) and offers a good service to Dublin as well as other parts of the country. The village itself has an idyllic Friary you are welcome to explore along with several walks with stunning views of the nearby lakes. We were unlucky enough to be staying here in the rain and cold, however the heating was excellent and while inside we didn't feel the cold one bit.

Highly recommended, 5/5.

Great hosts, restaurant/pub, and lodgings

Greg and Rita Belize, Central America
Review Submitted: November 19, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
In our 10 days in Ireland staying in various self catering houses, this was the best place by far. The owners Pat and Una are truly gracious and always helpful, even though they are very busy with their pub/restaurant. The apartment was exactly as pictured in the ads and very comfortable. It was outfitted with everything one needs.
The food in the pub is outstanding. We never ate anywhere else while in the area. Also a good place to meet the local people in the evenings.
We highly recommend it.
